Gotta love Sonic in the name, but not in the description of the ice. The ice in the pictures doesn't look anything like Sonic Ice. I was almost excited at a reasonably priced sonic ice machine, but I guess not. GE Opal does make Sonic Ice for 2x the price ($400 on sale at Walmart). I think the cheapest the GE Opal has been on SD is $350 or so @ woot last year with the side tank.

Nugget in the title should have been a clear indicator that this is not a Sonic ice marker.

I own the Opal (and love the damn thing), but was at a friend's house recently and he had this one:

Seemed like a reasonable go-between for similar nugget style ice at a lower price.

Going to give it a try. The reviews actually look decent. My GE Opal has broken 3 times so will try this.

The ice looks exactly like what the GE Opal produces and shows in the pics spitting out a few at a time. Also the reviews say that it's the same chewy ice. I got my opal 2.0 at Costco so I don't worry about it breaking. Some of the reviews on this machine leads me to believe the thing is pretty hit or miss on whether it breaks in the first week or not.

Don't forget to periodically flush the machine with 50/50 vinegar/water.

Absolutely a piece of junk. After a month I started to see metal shavings from this in my ice and my kids spitting it out. Contacted MFG and seller which nobody seemed to really care about. Complete safety hazard. Would not recommend at all.
