Great deal if it is anywhere near the quality of my GE Opal. The ice really is soft and crunchy like Sonic ice, but it costs around $500. Taking a chance and buying this as a Christmas gift with the extended warranty.
Giving this a shot, for the price it's seems great and I like the sonic like ice review comparisons. normally do protection plans but for 14 bucks ill added it
Definitely purchase the extended warranty. I had one and a few friends still have theirs. All with leaking issues. Walmart offered a full refund after this needed returned so many times. We hadn't even hit the extended time yet, it was still under the manufacturer warranty.
Reviews are so bad. Costco carries a different brand in store than the GE Opal now too for under $200. Name brand.
Love our GE Opal 1.0, but it is loud when actively making ice. Use filtered fridge water only or distilled water to minimize issues. Clean regularly with bleach and/or vinegar.

So loud. Drives me nuts. Any time the lid opens the thing kicks in. Have it in our den in the basement and i usually turn it off during movies.
had the GE Opal 2 for almost 3 years it finally started leaking glad I had the extended geek squad warranty they ended up giving me a full refund after 3 years. The GE Opal 2 is awesome but expensive. Just remember need to clean them regularly
