The downside is that you risk repeats by buying separate. The 6 pack does not contain repeats (very rare due to error).

Last year I bout 3 six packs and all three had duplicates. Can't recall the series number. Had the nut cracker fig tho.
Blame the people that squished the old packages in the stores to get the good figures.
Not true.. I got repeats in 2 of my 3 6 pack boxes for this series. Lego really did its loyal fan base dirty moving to the cardboard box method.
