Planning to go for 5 days the last week of October for our honeymoon. It's always been our dream destination but flight time is gonna hurt for sure. Especially since she gets flight anxiety 🥺

For those who have done a lot of traveling, are there any good destinations in July that have over-the-water rooms like this? Looking to book a honeymoon for my future wife and I, but everything we've found is crazy expensive.

1. Pay more and go during the "dry" season. We've been to the Maldives during the rainy season and yes, you're in paradise, and yes, it's still 5 star service and the food, but it's totally a different experience in the dry season...the crystal clear waters, the white sand beaches, etc. There is so much more to do in the nice weather, especially the water sports, which is jet skis, scuba, snorkeling, kayaks, etc. (Not all are included).

2. The taxes ARE Included in the price you pay to that company, Luxury Escapes. It's "added" to the price you originally see, but it basically means you won't pay any taxes/additional fees when you get to the resort.

3. The included plane ride from Male to the resort is worth roughly $400 per persons, so that's nice.

4. The flights from the US suck. Its a LONG ways. 14 or so from the East Coast to the mid-east, then another 5 or so the Maldives, then another 40 minutes to the resort. Now, add in layovers (expect about a 2 hour layover in Male and anywhere from 3 hours to 18 hours in the mid-east) and you're definitely looking at well over 24 to 30 hours of travel time..and this is from the east coast.

5. Bring plenty of bug spray no matter when you go!

I've been twice, although neither time was to this resort. If you have questions, please let me know.
Yeah this is a great deal. I might bite. One question. During the wet season. Is the water still crystal clear? Or is it cloudy? Obviously the weather is up to GOD but the water? Is it clear.

If flying from the east coast USA, you're looking at >48h total flight time (24h+ each way). Just make sure you are ready to fly for a full day, relax for 5, and then fly a full day again. Personally I can't fly >15h without staying at least 2 weeks at the destination, otherwise it feels like the pain to get there and back wasn't worth it...
Yes, I agree 100% unless you can go in one of those flights where you can lay down, but that's a 10k upgrade lol.

That's insane.
I think it's better flying somewhere taking few days vacation then going here same on the way back, which means needs at least 2 weeks.

Found the guy who can't afford it.
I disagree. I could afford this, but it's pretty "meh" when you factor in the rainy season and flight times. I can definitely see where they're saying "ice deal". Different strokes for different folks.

I'm ignorant but couldn't you do all these water excursions and white sand beaches with clear water in the Caribbean? Sure these atoll and hotel on the water are a lot cooler but all these photos are arial shot, and is it worth the extra +18 hrs flight and x2 the cost? Then there's Fiji and the South Pacific which is far too, but closer! You can even make a nice trip on your way to Fiji…Japan, SEA, Bali.

Yup. There are closer places that are just as good or better. The Maldives are nice but so damn far away.

Same here. My shortest trip to China was M-F. I am East Coast so even direct it's around 15 hours one way. My body had no ideal what the hell time it was the entire time or for several days afterward. I couldn't imagine trying to enjoy a vacation on such a short timetable.

Absolutely you can do all the water sports in the carribbean for a lot less coming from the USA. Is it worth the flight time and cost? Hard to say. I've done Bali, Maldives, Carribbean, Fiji...They are all different. The one thing I didn't like about the carribbean is it's more of a "party" crowd, especially at all inclusives. Part of the allure of the Maldives is both being in the middle of the ocean and the over-the-water villas...but you can get that in Fiji/Tahiti/Etc.

We've look at possibly doing The Seychelles next...maybe Bali again. I liked how far your money goes in Bali, I mean you can literally have an pretty darn amazing house, private chef and driver and still spend less that what you would in the Maldives or the Carribbean.

Good questions. It's cloudy up top but underneath it's clear. We went swimming and snorkeling numerous times during the rain Smilie

Been there, done that!!! Feel free to ask me questions.

I booked on 6/5/23 on the last front page deal and we just got back 2 weeks ago from Pullman Maldives Maamutta. I will not do this again, since it was so far and took me 4 days to adjust back to my time zone. BUT, IT WAS AWESOME AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING!

First the bad:
1. Drinks took a long time to get to me (water and soda is quick), anywhere from 5-30 minutes for cocktails. Except at the Hub Bar, always under 5 minutes.
2. Limited restaurants, granted it is a private resort island. The MÉLANGE buffet is breakfast, lunch, dinner with about 4 cook-to-order stations. Think of it as a world buffet, good food and variety. The two a la carte restaurants include SOUQ OVEN Italian lunch and dinner and PHAT CHAMELEON vegan only and only dinner. Don't let the reviews fool you, if your not vegan and don't think you will like it, go with your gut! We went straight to the buffet right after (yuck) Smilie
3. We had one full day of rain and it does suck. All the fun outside activities are closed down, so think twice before booking during rainy seasons.

The good:
Everything else was awesome, it was that exotic dream vacation that everyone has on their bucket list!

I am so glad I upgraded to the Ocean Pool Villa (double the price) vs the beach villa. The deal back in June 2023 was slightly better comparing December rates and the upgraded villa booked for 6 nights ($6335 vs $7673). On that booking date, Turkish Airlines was the best price at $2567 for 2 + $312 option for assigned seats. All flights had every seat filled except our IST to LAX coming back. YES, IT'S A BRUTAL FLIGHT. Not so bad going there, but really sucks getting back, plus adjusting to the time zone again. Peace

$13000 (reg. $100,000, up to 87% off)

Why do they keep regular price as if people are going to buy it!
