3 external monitors hooked up to a laptop is hardly a 'popular choice', lol

I get it. People pay $2k not just for the hardware, but the entire eco-system (iOS MacOS operating system on M3 pro chip + 36g ram + 512g ssd + 120hz refresh rate screen + superior audio == high quality environment for entertainment / video editing/software development and much more) I think you are still thinking in a PC mindset that I pay much less money for this type of hardware so I can install whatever I want to (a highly customizable gaming PC or DIY linux development environment).

Customization is the main feature of PC which is consequently cost-friendly. Mac users are different group. People may not very much into gaming but love web browsing/video streaming, or not highly technical but want user-friendly OS for work or highly technical but annoyed by troubleshooting like driver update in Linux. These are people like to pay more money to save their time to get what they want to do without the hassle of configuration which is most part of the fun of building a PC

Also there are people like me do Xcode for living to use a Mac to make ends meet.

Easy answer: we don't justify it.

Definitely one of the worst parts of the Mac experience. There are good and bad part about buying a Mac.

An Apple Macbook buyer could just as easily ask you how you can possibly "justify" using objectively worse Intel laptop chips that are slower than an M3 while consuming twice the power. Here's a 20-watt M3 stomping a 55W Intel chip. AMD fares a little better than Intel but not much.

Truth is, there are always tradeoffs. I've been using Macs as my primary for a while because I'm relatively happy with the tradeoffs... not because I think they're perfect.

Don't assume others are brainwashed. You probably own a Dell or Asus or something and I wouldn't assume you're some brainwashed cult member who thinks Dell or Asus can do no wrong. I'm sure you weighed the pros and cons and made the best choice for you.

PS: Now that Macbook Pros have brought back the SD card slot, it's pretty easy to just leave a low-profile 1TB MicroSD card adapter in that slot for extra storage. This is obviously not ideal, but it's.... fine.

Isn't it just $250 difference? I thought memory upgrade from 18 to 32GB is $270 so it's just $20 difference no?

Can always return the Bestbuy one anyway?

Exactly. If 36gb ram is a necessity then would have bought the 36gb to begin with regardless of deal or no.

$2000, 2023 technology, supports only 2 external monitors. I don't get it.
It's literally 2023 right now. What are you saying?

M3 "Pro" chip supports 2 external monitors natively, so yes but you don't need a dock.

That maybe this made sense 5 years ago, but in the current day, the inability to support a popular choice for a premium priced computer is...well, classic Apple differentation of products to make you pay $500 more

Apple users - please tell me how you justify the small storage included in "base" model $2000+dollar laptops. 512GB NVME is like 30 bucks now, you can easily get 2TB for under $100.

Apple is gonna charge like an extra $700 to go from 512GB to 1TB, and another $5000 to go up to 2TB. GTFOH apple.

I understand 8GB of RAM on Mac isnt as bad as 8GB on PC - so wont pick on that, but this is just absurd. Storage is storage.

If you are a creator, do you just carry around an external SSD for everything?

I dont get it.
