Blink does not have continuous recording while Wyze 3 has with the SD card, if you already have cam plus lite. So Wyze 3 is definitely better
The biggest selling point of the Wyze Cam 3 is definitely the color night vision sensor.

There's other cameras on the market in the same price range that have started using color sensors, but all of them have servers based overseas.

If you need cloud service and night vision, there's no real competition right now.

Not paying for subscription when they could have added an SD card slot. Screw them… who wants to add another bill to his life?!
You might want to do your homework.

This includes a sync module, which essentially lets you connect any USB based storage to one centralized source.

You don't need multiple SD cards, because all of the cameras are sending the recording straight to the module.

Not only is it more secure than having to rely on a storage placed outside your home, it's more reliable because SD cards can degrade quickly when they're written to constantly.

You want a regular hard drive for surveillance.

Yes it can. In the blink app you can see both cloud storage and local storage selections.
That's great then. Thanks for responding.

I wonder why people care about cloud storage other than theft of the SD card if it can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Can these floodlights/outdoor lights be wired to be powered through a wall outlet?
Yes, the floodlight uses 110 electricity. The others are a mix of plug-in and battery operated.

Is it possible to monitor real time if we don't have any storage setup hooked up?

Also going to try two bundles (just want the two flood lights), but banking on the sync module being included. If not, I'll return.
The sync module is included in the box with the blink outdoor 4 camera. I purchased this at my local warehouse today for $49.99.

Family has a vacation home in another state that they visit every 2-4 months. They don't have an active wifi service. would this be a good option install for surveillance and would it be necessary to use with wifi?
you need wifi with internet service.

Can someone suggest a USB drive for sync module? Do we need 400 mb/s or 130 mb/s will also work?

Not sure if this site has change but was trying to send a private message to you because you seem to have a wealth of information but I could not. At any rate, based on your knowledge, how you advise me as I want to protect my home. I initially only purchased a Ring doorbell camera which does well when someone rings the bell however, it did/does not capture anything/anyone (people specifically) who were in the view of the camera but were a few feet away. I recently had an incident where there was a person lingering 10 feet away from my Ring doorbell camera for an hour but they were never recorded even as they vandalized my car.

Ultimately, I do not want to pay for "extra services", especially company recordings where I provide footage to a company or other party of my property. What route would you suggest I take? Do I add Blink, Wyze or some over company that would allow me to collect info (post or present)around the house if their are other incidents in the future? Also, hoping for a wireless approach where I can set up SD or HDs as you would suggest.

If you can reply to me directly it might be better as I would rather not bore others with details that may not be beneficial to them.

Thank you for your assistance.

Ideally, you want a decently large mechanical drive, not a flash drive. Something like a WD MyBook fits this criteria.

The Sync module isn't going to take advantage of the latest USB 3.2 spec or care whether the drive is 7200 RPM, so you don't need to spend extra for it. USB 3.0 and 5400 RPM is fine.

In terms of real performance affecting specs, you want a CMR drive, not SMR. A quick Google will tell you which ones to avoid.

But the most important thing is that it has to have its own power supply and that you can turn off spin down/power saving. The drive should be active 24/7.

I'm sure others would benefit from knowing, so I'll reply here.

In a best case scenario, there's a lot to be said for using multiple camera brands and the automatic redundancy this provides.

If one service goes down or a bad update causes the camera to malfunction, at least you have a different brand to pick up the slack.

On that same note, it also helps to have them powered from different sources. The kits with batteries and a solar panel are a good option if you get enough sun year round. Alternatively, there's backup batteries that you can place between the mains and the camera.

As for the recordings themselves, it might benefit you to know that on reputable services, they're end to end encrypted. You're not submitting raw footage for anyone to view. In fact, in most of the data breaches and malfunctions some of these companies have had, the only footage available was the live stream. Obviously not ideal, but also not a case of people being able to watch your home movies like it's Netflix.

But, if you prefer to keep recordings local, the best user friendly systems for that are still IP cameras. They have a central surveillance box where all the recordings are stored and the preferred method of connecting cameras is still by wire, making them far more reliable. Moreover, most wireless cameras top out at 2K resolution, while 4K+ wired cameras are easy to come by. 2K is pretty inconsequential if you were hoping to make a positive ID on your vandal.

Of course, none of this accounts for budget.

If you're trying to do this on the cheap, it's hard to beat a bunch of Wyze cameras with 128GB SD cards installed in each. If you don't pay for their cloud services, all the recordings are local at the camera. They're also extremely easy to set up with backup batteries and solar, as they run off USB. The 3 pack often goes on sale for $60. Throw in a few SD cards and you're looking at around $120 for everything.

Thank you kindly for your reply. More thanks on your response regarding my question on reliable inexpensive alternatives. If there is a way for you to contact my account directly in order for me to provide more details I would greatly appreciate it but if not, I continue to express to you my gratitude.

$40 month for ring ? May I know why ?
