Tripods designed not to fall over have a hook on the bottom to add a weighted bag to usually 😉

Anyone have an experience with these? How sturdy are they for projectors? I want to use one with a projector outside but I don't want it if its flimsy or will get knocked over by a weak wind.

I have the shorter version (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...F8&psc=1), purchased for $21.33 in March of '23.
It being the shorter version I obviously cannot comment on this version's stability when at max height, but I can say the version I have meets my needs exactly, which is a quick outdoor setup of my projector. I can adjust the horizontal and vertical no problem. The platter the projector sits on is plastic, a little flimsy and not as solid as the product pictures would ahve you believe, but I am not needing to put anything heavy on it.

Overall I am happy with my purchase of the shorter version at the $21.33 price point.

I have this and it's really flimsy. The construction quality is actually not bad for the price, but when you have it taller than a few feet, it really starts to wobble and I would not feel comfortable leaving a laptop or projector on the unit unsupervised. Also, the top part where you put your projector or laptop is just this cheap foam pad with a few straps over it.

I would consider getting something more expensive/substantial if possible.

I have a similar one works fine, but not perfect. Mine is hard to adjust for whatever reason but I got it close enough and just used the keystone setting to fix it

This is the one I have for comparison

I bought the third one with the wheels. I also tried to buy the first one, but the promo code can only be applied once. Good deal at $25.70 if you find a use for it. (I'll use it to hold my laptop in my home studio while shooting photos tethered.)

Years ago, my sister bought a house where the previous owner had filled the built-in backyard fire pit with steel ball bearings. They ranged in size from 1/4" to 1", were all rusty, and mixed with red lava rock. My sister was going to toss them, but I offered to dig them all out if I could keep them. I used a magnet to separate them and got 100lbs worth, which I keep in a bucket in my shop.

Things like this tripod are exactly why. Fill the hollow legs with bearings, pour in resin if I really want to prevent shifting, and boom... tipping problem solved.

FYI guys I have this mount, but I am using it as a tall monitor stand. The plate is a vesa 100x100 pattern so easily mounts to monitors which have that. I have a 32" monitor acting as a tv for my treadmill. It's very stable and even though it rocks a little when I am running, it stays standing with no issues. You can look for my review talking about this on the item's page if you want to verify.
