Saferacks has them on sale plus 25% off and free shipping. It's cheaper but you'll have to math for yourself.
You don't go to a restaurant and say that the food is way more expensive than the ingredients, do you?
Once you begin to install these you realize how much worthless junk you have.

Unfortunately, the 25% sale at Saferacks.com has ended. I was trying to call them to find out about getting an estimate but they don't provide estimates/consultations which stinks. Ordering the part w/ installation also didn't qualify for the 25% off which I thought was lame (I wasn't expecting the 25% would apply to the installation itself but at least to the rack but they weren't adjusting the pricing on it when I last checked).

I don't want to buy something that I'm not sure will fit and I'm not sure how they would so easily refuse a consultation/estimate as that's a solid lead right there. Anyway, now that the 25% sale has ended, I am for sure not going to get one of these...

Maybe the next time it comes around.

Late to the party but I ordered these when the Costco deal was ending right at beginning of February. So for anyone in the future who is looking at a Saferack thread, I'm just gonna suggest paying the $129 install fee per rack.

I consider myself handy and decided to throw these up after I got off work on a Friday and before the wife got home. FIVE HOURS LATER I had one completed. These things seriously need a stencil of the dimensions you can throw up on the ceiling, kinda like how some minisplits include the cardboard stencil.

The time consuming problem is the 27'' C-Channels that you mount between the joists. It takes a lot of patience and double measuring to make sure you get the correct offset from a wall for both ends, as well as lining up the 96.5 or 48.5 measurements to the other C-Channels. You can flub the 96.5 run a little bit since you can move the vertical posts laterally between the lag screws to compensate... but the 48.5 width needs to be pretty true. So getting one C-Channel is the easy part. Then it's meticulous measuring and making sure the rest are inline.

My install was over the garage doors, rails, and track so that was a lot of my time fighting with the ladder and trying to double and triple check measurements. I tried painters tape to "dry fit" and measure the C-channels but they're pretty heavy and that failed spectacularly. Then it was about "good enough, send it" time.

I don't understand the price of these at all.

You can buy the hardware separate for like $100 or something, posts and all for racks.

I'd literally NEVER buy these. Extremely overpriced.

I was actually planning to buy the materials separately but went to Lowes today and just the angle strip for mounting to the ceiling was $50. I can't see how I could come out much cheaper buying the hardware in pieces.

These are resold monsterrax.com racks. They're cheaper from them directly.

Looks like $149/unit, haven't checked shipping yet. Also state 500# limit vs 600# for the Costco ones

economy shipping (5-8 days) is free. they're oos of the 48" drop down ones. only the 18-33" drop down available

Same time estimates for me too (I took a little longer). The kicker for me was, when it came down to hammering the c-channels with a rubber mallet, one side would just not go in! They screwed up the little round things that hook onto the vertical posts. I probably banged that sucker in for 20 minutes, using WD-40 and STILL WOULDN'T GO IN. In the end, I got a Dremmel and shaved the inside of those button things and THAT finally worked.

I think the additional difference is the $60 hook accessory pack Costco includes.

Saferacks includes hooks too. It's in the description. I actually bought a separate hook set thinking the same thing from Saferacks, but now I have extra.
