This is pretty good for a pre-built. If I had waited a few weeks (and I'd been waiting years at this point) instead of building my own, I probably would have jumped on this. Built a rig with 7900X, 4070ti, 64gb ram, 2gb 990 Samsung Pro, 1000W platinum PSU for $1850 thanks to Microcenter. The labor charge on this build is probably only around $200.

I actually just did this build 2 weeks ago. Ended up costing me about $1650.
Best deal was on the 7800x3d + memory (32 gb) + this MSI B650 motherboard from Micro Center for under $400.
And got a ASRock 7900xtx for $909 from new egg a few weeks ago.

A couple differences in my machine is I did a 2 TB NVME M2 SSD for about $80. Brand is called Solidigm, which isn't quite as well known as WD Black (I have that WD Black one in my PS5), but the price was right.
I also did an air cooler for the CPU; the Phantom Spirit 120. That was only $35; liquid cooling would have been about $110.
Another difference is my case; went with a Montech Max Air mid tower (absolutely massive though, 55L) for $70. Well worth it, it's a good affordable case.

Also saved about $15 on my PSU from buying an open box NZXT from Best Buy.

I also bought my windows 11 key from a semi sketchy key seller called Kinguin for $30. Seemingly is working out fine; instantly worked. Still made me feel a little uncomfortable though.

So you can def build this yourself and save some money.

Hey just as an update to my previous comment, I ended up loading the parts into pcpartpicker just out of curiousity and it came out to be about $50 less than the price without Windows Key. Once you add in key, you're a bit over or around the same (but can usually find discount keys on ebay for $30-50 (I'm pretty sure it used to be like $5 but oh well) if you feel okay going grey-market route.
I think if you were willing to wait on sales on a few of the major components, you could actually end up coming in a bit under the pre-built price. Depends on how much you enjoy building your own pc, and how much you price your labor (for me I'd consider it a wash since pc building is kind of fun).

basically 2nd or 3rd best gpu available on market (after RTX 4090 and maybe 4080). Similar for CPU. Can't really get much better than this even if you have an unlimited budget

You're better off not upgrading. Your rig is good. Any advantage you get will be marginal. Double the frames for what games? It doesn't matter in most situations just lower the graphics. Wait a generation or two. Invest the 2k in the stock market and take it out when there's a bigger jump in performance of gpus or cpus.

As for this deal, it's pretty good for a pre built. No immediate drawbacks to any of the components, overall it's good to go right out the box and really doesn't require any upgrades anywhere. I'm building up an extremely similar system right now. I would estimate you could probably get all these parts separately at regular prices for roughly $200 less, really not that bad of a premium on a pre built. It certainly beats any 4070 / 4070ti pre builts being posted for about the same price.

Edit: originally thought this was an 7900XT not xtx making this an even better deal, and right around what normal pricing would be for all components separately

It's a customized build that OP posted. The base machine they started from has 4070 by default. They posted the deal because it came out pretty good when customized this way.

I previously jumped on the deal from Best Buy with i9, 4070 ti, and 64 gb ram for 1900. Is this a better deal overall? That one is still in return window. Just worried about the low vram on the 4070 ti

7800x3d is $379 atm
240mm masterliquid argb is $75
Cheapest ATX B650 is $170
Not sure what CL their ram is, but building it yourself, you'd want 30, $105
nvme have gone up, 850x hasn't been $60 in months, right now it's $85
cheapest xtx is $940
idk what 850 you're getting for $80, but if I"m building, the cheapest a-tier is $97

The case is like the only price there that's accurate $60 (but if I'm building, no way I'm sticking a 2k top-end build in a non-a rgb montech lol)

That's $1911, $1656 if you can drive to an MC, but most can't so it's not really useful for comparison. And lots don't want to build. A lot of the front page desktop deals on this site are $100-$300 above DIY, and people are good with that. You're paying about retail for the parts on this build. It's a great deal for those people.
