These have sugar substitutes in them even though they aren't branded as diet. It seems all or most soda stream mixes do.

I debated between a Sodastream and Drinkmate and went with Drinkmate because you can carbonate other liquid other than water

I got a Sparkel machine. It's a bit complicated and slower than Sodastream but the fact that i won't ever need a co2 tank and only use baking soda with citric acid makes it a pretty good deal compared to cans of soda i used to buy. Surprisingly carbonation level is very strong. These Sodastream mixes are great for it too but you can also add frozen fruits or a tea bag into the bottle.

The Terra tends to be the most preferred model, simple design, reliable, requires no power and is easy to attach external C02's (via third party cables) to if you want to avoid buying QC cartridges.

Get a tube, a keg pressure gauge, and a 20 lb CO2 tank from a welding supply store and DIY. I have gotten about 200 gallons out of my first 20lb CO2 which is about 20-25 dollars.

Not sure you appreciate how much sugar is in your drinks. Each one of those Starry sugar free syrup bottles makes the equivalent of 24 cans of soda.

A can of regular Starry contains around 40 grams of carbs. A tablespoon of sugar is 13 grams of carbs according to the USDA which is the lower end cited on the Internet.

So the equivalent sugared syrup would need you to dissolve 3 tablespoons of sugar x 24 servings. That's 72 tablespoons of sugar. A liter is 68 tablespoons.

The only thing that freaks me out more than doing this math is pulling up a YouTube video where they boil the water out of regular Coke or Sprite.
