Don't forget to call the Canon Loyalty program number to get potentially 10% off your lens (refurbished included). I gave them the serial number for an older kit lens and it literally qualified me to get 10% off the RF 24-70 f/2.8. Amazing deal for refurbished.

Last time I called Canon and asked for loyalty discount they wanted to know serial number of a product that is not supported anymore. My eos rebel SL1 was 11 years old and working and they refused 10% on another new mirrorless camera

No dice on the loyalty program. Rep wouldn't give me the discount despite purchasing an r5, 100-500 and 24-105 over the past few years. Wanted something older.

While that's mostly true, my experience with their refurb lenses is some tend to be used for a short period of time. Older lenses are more likely to be the case. I got a refurb lens with some dents/scratches on the hood and some clear sign of use on the body, but with the price reduction along and the 10% royalty discount, I can't complain.

The rep said the loyalty program is 10% off and is a one for one upgrade. Unsupported old camera for a new camera and old lens for a new lens etc. Would it work if we give some random serial number?

Loyalty program is hit and miss depending on the customer service rep. Last couple times I purchased something, I had to call twice as the first person had no clue about the program or said it was not valid on refurbs. Second calls worked with no issues. They just need a serial number form another canon product.

I have R10 body and EF lens adapter, using EF 1.8 50mm.

The RF50mm 1.8 is $80, if I bought that, would there be any benefit in doing that?

Gotta ask, why would you still prefer 100-500 over the 200-800MM? I know it's not L lens but if you're in the market for a telezoom isn't more zoom better?

I think it depends on when you shoot? If it's just sunrise or when the sky is about to get dark, you would want a lens with a brighter aperture.

You don't have to, there's a very good canon-branded EF to RF adapter.
