The K1 had its early issues, which were addressed with their "v3" version of the extruder and updated hotend. YMMV if BHphoto has recent enough stock where updates were included (July?), but Creality has been sending parts kits if you call them about your printer having known issues.
Creality has responded to feedback re more user control- open source firmware released:

Now it's a much better value for a wider range of users. Plus there's the improved hotend made by Micro Swiss:

Unfortunately, I doubt any software improvements and hardware revisions are going to shine through all the bad press and reviews it had at launch.
Lots of Asian companies have customer support folks/culture that can vary from "no problem, will ship you the kit" to requiring a little more persistence and evidentiary data/photos to move them along. Forums show the same regarding this issue. Now that they have seriously drop the prices to help merchants clear the old inventory, they could do more push-back to bank on some customers giving up.
For the novices or those expecting turnkey {but still wanting to try the lotto), this thread talks of lot# ranges that should help decide on returning (without even opening the box):

For those not minding to roll up their sleeves for minor parts replacement- those whom blood boils dealing w customer support - $23.52 for v3 extruder from AliExp's Creality store should fix under-extrusion (Ali product # 3256802973499494):

Upgrade to the Micro Swiss hotend, and reliability should greatly improve. A minor upgrade to avoid the stock Creality crinkled black plastic build plate is always sound.
Sure, at $500+ it was a closed-system Creality contradiction - the opposite of getting a lowly $99 open-market Ender3 upgraded cheaply and printing 24/7 on it. But there's already community traction, there's a value point here, even if the launch failed for competition for Bambu buyers, it's an easier time for those on their 2nd printer - 2 easy mods to get high-temp enclosed coreXY, returning to the open choices of Orca/PrusaSlicer, Klipper, Fluidd, etc. ... that exceeds Ender5 (stock) price/performance.
