AppleCare is attached to the device, not the owner. So yes, you'll have to buy AppleCare for the new Mac.

It's insane to see how M-chip mac laptops literally blew out of the water any competitors. No other laptop can compare to what Apple offers at this point, and I've tried everything.

you can get a prorated refund on your AppleCare+, if you call them and cancel it.
