Pretty decent computer for the price, but…

Couple corrections:

1. Ram is 8gb of LPDDR4X soldered in dual channel at 3200MT/s… Not upgradeable.

2. Installed SSD is SATA… 562 MB/s… 🤢

3. Two SSD slots, but only one can run at NVME at a time. The other will only do SATA. OR, both can be SATA.

Good for indoor use, but not under the sun.

The I5-1235u has some nice specs, great at this price point. But a 250 bit display on an HP with an I3-1225 g4 is just barely adequate for me. Make sure you try using a friend's 200 nit screen, or a 250 realizing it's 25% brighter. Also soldered ram is a no go for me - and the HP (thank you SD) was only $10 more two years ago, and fully upgradable. It was a better balanced purchase for the same price, and new. A 200 nit touchscreen is like a 7" Kindle.

Just looked it up. A 7" Kindle Screen is 410 nits, so just - meh!

received this a few days ago.. installed everything and it worked great!
the case is acually aluminum and feels premium and thin
screen is actually bright, similiar to my other laptop at 300nits
touchscreen is very responsive, speed is good

the only con is its a bit overweight at 3.5lb for its size and 8gb limitation but seriously not a big deal since I mostly use it for work (visual studio, ssms)

I've also bought aspire 3 ryzen 7520 from another deal... and this laptop actually feels better build and is definately faster abit smaller screen (15.7 vs 14.1). Touchscreen is definately better on this one as the aspire is matte and therefore not as sensitive.

Hope it works out for you. I bought a Gateway 14" from Walmart via SD in mid-Dec. 2022. Now 13 months later, the screen is coming loose from the bezel (chat with Gateway says past my 1-year warranty, so no relief), and sometimes the fingerprint reader works & sometimes not. Ain't no shortage of complaints from Gateway purchasers from last fall here on SD. No way/no price will I buy another.

so far so good.. don't know if you purchased the same one as this deal but the laptop i received is premium quality and looks very sturdy...hence the heavy build... for the price ~$200 out of the door, if it lasts 1 year i'm happy. Being a restored/refurb, it usually undergone more inspections and repairs to weed out any issues so for cheap items, i actually prefer refurbs.
