FWIW this is a good price for an Oral B 5000 even without the bluetooth (which I agree is 10000% pointless).

I do really like my Oral B's. Been using one for quite awhile now, probably almost 10 years. TBH I don't see that much difference between my pricier Oral B's like this 5000 vs. the cheapo $30 kid ones I buy my kids. Yes, the expensive ones have more settings, but I don't see any indication that these are beneficial long term, as even my brush with 5 different settings basically only gets used on 1.

I will say just from experience of having tried switching to Philips sonicare brushes, that Oral B is def. the way to go. At the time I was traveling a lot and the battery life of Sonicare was apealing (claimed up to 2 weeks vs 1 week for Oral B). Not talking about what's more effective cleaning, by most accounts they're both really good and way better than normal brushing, but the sonic motors in Philips brushes have (for me) a 100% failure rate. Like clockwork every single one I bought died in about 1 year. They're on avg. more expensive than oral b's, and went through 3 of them before I finally just went back to Oral B brushes.

I've never had one oral b motor fail on me, even the cheapo $30 kid ones.
Same I still have a cheap oral b from 15 years ago or so and it still works but it doesn't really hold a charge any more so it's constantly on the charger when not in use. It's time to move on so I'm looking for a new one.

Agreed. I have two sonicare 4100s that crapped out after a year. Been waiting for a deal like this to make the switch

The whole point of brushing is to prevent Bluetooth.

I have all the electric toothbrushes and the oral B io is the best one. Just buy the cheapest 3 series.

The Oral-B 360 2 brush set from Costco at $69 is a better deal if you need 2 brushes

Li-Ion batteries and no pointless bluetooth

appreciate the honest review of this thing... but i will say that i have a 7 year old phillips that is still going strong and now lives at our vacation cabin... and just bought 2 more phillips last hear that are also going strong. yet to have one wear out. Not discounting your experience, just sharing mine.

i wish i could include how often they were used im my review of them, but they dont have bluetooth, so im just going to have to guess and say twice a day... lol.

Looking to replace my current oral b which I love. Was wondering if anyone knew the difference between this and the oral b IO brush.

Ensuring optimal oral health necessitates adherence to meticulous dental hygiene practices, encompassing the mechanical act of tooth brushing and the systematic implementation of interdental cleaning techniques such as flossing. These measures are imperative in mitigating the risk of periodontal diseases. If you have any further inquiries or if there's additional technical information you'd like to delve into, please feel free to elaborate. I am not a dentist, but I used GPT, so I am now a dental expert.

The IO series is great and yeah you don't need the expensive ones with Bluetooth. The only advantage you really get is more brushing modes. Just make sure you wash and take care of it cuz it's prone to growing mold as water gets inside of it. I had to throw out my IO 7 a while back and got the 3 from Walgreens a few days ago. Idk if it's still going on but it was only like $15 when you include the Walgreens points and rebate.

It is used with your phone and app to map your brusing to improve it. Some dentists will download to review. Great for teaching kids to brush properly and check that they are actually doing it. If you have an unused older phone laying around, can dedicate it to this.

If you don't want to use the Bluetooth options, don't.

This is still a great brush and a great price. Mine are 2 years old and going strong. Don't see enough of an uplift so skipping current generation.

What's the take on the numbered series (4000, 5000) versus the iO series?
Get an iO 6 series. Same motor, no paying for a color LED in the iO9. Between it, and actually buying a phone for the first time in my life in 2021, I'd say the electric toothbrush is more valuable. 😁On ebay, you can find a iO6 for around the same price as this Oral-B brush. I read an abstract of a study that claims that these brushes clean teeth as well as or better than Soniccare.

PS I'm one of those weirdos that uses the buggy app for 100% coverage in around 2 minutes 20 seconds.
