Assuming an 18 inch laptop works for you, this is a decent buy. The nice thing about these larger laptops is that they use the higher power draw, stronger components in them and the cooling is generally better. I've owned a few alienware laptops and oversaw a fleet of Dell machines at an IT gig years back and Dell's customer service was great then.

300 nit screen is so 2010's. Otherwise nice laptop though a bit heavy. G18 is much lighter and screen has proper brightness and color but build quality takes a hit.

I thought about buying one of these, but decided a smaller laptop and a portable 18 inch screen was better for me.
I believe the clearance sale is related to new Intel meteor lake processors becoming available.

It could be because it is a 9 pound behemoth... That is literally 2x the weight of more lightweight gaming laptops. It is certainly the reason I didn't seriously consider this one.
