Seems like most product pages now are hiding the memory (RAM) size in the main description for MacBooks. Has it always been like this, or are they trying to hide from plain site because of all of the backlash from some on 8GB not being enough?

I could have sworn you used to be able to tell from either the title of the product on the product page or at least those bullet points they have right under.

Costco used to sell M1 Max with 1TB & 64GB RAM. Sadly it's no longer the case for M2 Max.

Nah they are doing it on purpose because 8GB is not enough but they are trying to be slick by hyping up other things

Who says it's not enough? Randos on Slickdeals and Reddit? An equivalent Windows PC with double the ram wished it could do what Apple silicon can do.

This PC with "better specs" loses to the MacBook all day

Is 8GB sufficient for basic usage? Sure. Will your workflow fit within that? Probably most of the time. Will the times that it doesn't be annoying enough that you regret buying such a minimal spec for so much money? Will it happen enough that you wear out your non-replaceable single-chip SSD?

An equivalent PC (regardless of OS and including other Macs) with double the RAM can store twice as much in RAM. Full stop.

No amount of buzzwords to describe shared memory access (i.e. "Unified Memory") will ever change that. There is nothing magical about the industry standard RAM chips that Apple and all other manufacturers use that makes 8GB anything more than 8GB.

Real world usage says differently. But you can't show proof to Windows shills.

Good luck editing 4K ProRes video on an Intel ultra book because you have more RAM LOL
