Always saw this on TV as a kitchen standard. Seems to be the favorite of professional chefs and enthusiasts. Also one of America's Test Kitchen's favorites.

Had to wait a while for it to come down to around this price. I don't use mine as often as I thought, but it makes perfect uniform, thin cuts for my food dehydrator. Has been great for my apple chips and persimmon chips recently.

Super sharp. It even slices through the apple seeds. Recommend getting a cut-resistant glove as well. The hand-guard is pretty useless.

Most reputable places still sell this on sale for $60+ without free shipping.

This offering from the same seller (Neo field of Japan) is $41 and *might* be the same product, but I'm not 100% confident. Might be worth a gamble to some:

Pre-pandemic these would go on sale for $20-30. Bought one in Japan in 2021 for $30 (in Yen, not on sale).

Yeah, these were super hard to get peak pandemic. I even tried to order it through Amazon Japan for around ~$50 but shipping was months away and kept getting delayed.

Finally found it for ~$40 "like-new" from Amazon Warehouse, took a chance on it and it was new, just with damaged packaging.

Found a new link, same seller but for less at $41. Seems to be the same product, only different color Beige vs Almond.

Update: Inspecting the $41 offering vs the $45 offering, I don't suspect them to be exactly the same product. The $41 offering doesn't seem to have the rubber non-slip pad on the heel. Also the title typo (Super Standard Madoline Slicer) and some of the specs ("round" blade, lesser weight) are a few more red flags. Might be worth a gamble for some with the generous return policy.

The $45 and $41 versions are still available in the links of the original posting. Just be sure to change the seller to "Neo field of Japan".

I looked at the two models a bit closer and the difference seems to be the $45 version is an upgraded version.

The $45 version has a rubber non-slip pad at the foot and also notches on the sides that hook on top of edges of a bowl for more stability.

Sorry it's a bit confusing. I had to be really careful myself when first purchasing one. There are a few versions out there with various prices and features.
