About this game:
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you'll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.
Highly recommended!!! Especially if you're a fan of Dead Cells and/or other actionRPG rogue-likes!
Approaching 1000 hours in this game (Switch, handheld). Just got it on PS5 for the upgrade in graphics/performance. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. It is one of the best games ever made. Super addicting. I love it, but I hate it too. Warning: in the beginning you might not get into it, but if you pick it up again and give it a few runs, you might not ever put it down. It's that good. Still discovering new play styles. At 300 hours I thought Aegis (shield) was the best weapon, now I'm convinced it's Varatha (spear). None of the weapons are bad, just some are better suited to particular play styles/players. Looking forward to playing it on the big screen with enhanced performance. STAY AWAY FROM MY GAME.
Don't forget this has cross-save with Steam/Epic Games version on PC. Great having this portable

Which version would you recommend? Switch or PS5? I'm trying to decide between the two right now since it's on sale on both.
PS5 runs at a higher resolution and framerate but that's the only difference.
Don't listen to this guy, everything he has said is untrue. He's tried saying the PS5 version has better graphics, it does not. He tried saying it has different animations and attack cues, it does not.
It's the exact same game running at a higher resolution/framerate.
If you plan on playing it on the go obviously the switch, but if you mostly use your switch docked PS5 is your best bet. or buy both.

Get the Switch version. Awesome game to play handheld in bed. Get the PS5 version if you want to see the game in all its glory. Really can't go wrong either way.
EXTREMELY casual player of games here. (Not even a casual gamer)
I bought this after seeing everyone rave about it on here… and I just didn't care for it.
I went into it expecting it to be Diablo-ish, (rogue like), which it is… but it's even more of a grind (not in a good way), and even more repetitive since the "moves" (physical attacks, magic, defense, etc) your character can do are based on and limited to the weapon you choose and are stuck with for the duration of a run, plus some random buffs you get to choose from before each run.
If you die before or during a boss fight? You go all the way back to the start. Not even Metroid is that cruel.
Room after room of two or so types of enemies reminded me of original Zelda without the charm of nostalgia.
If you're having a successful run, it's difficult to put the game down to resume later… not because it's fun, but because you end up back at the start.
Other obligations would inevitably pull me away from this game each time I played, and eventually it was an easy decision to give it up since I found progressing to be tedious and repetitive rather than fun.
If you can't clear your calendar to play, you may feel the same way.
There's no disagreement. What you are saying is straight up nonsense.
The game is 100% identical on all platforms. The only difference is the resolution and framerate it runs at. There are no special animations or attack cues in other versions.
Yeah, that's the point. It's a rogue like not a metroidvania. Death = new run.
That's kind of the main staple of the entire genre.
Diablo is in no way shape or form rogue like. not sure where you got that from.
Not sure why you're comparing Hades to Diablo, Metroid or Zelda at all. they are all completely different genres entirely.
Again - casual gamer here, but since there are likely others like me out there I decided to share my opinion/perspective for their benefit.
Relating it to the most similar titles I've played, or other popular games people like me might relate to.
Sounds like you're deeper into gaming than me and understand the nuance of dividing line between game genres better than me, which is cool. Just keep in mind that slickdeals has a broad spectrum of users and some people will find your perspective more relatable, and others will relate better to mine.
Also sounds like I'm not alone since "Diablo" is referenced more than once in the Wikipedia article on "Roguelike". Article says it scored lower than the MOST rogue like games, but the fact that credible sources took the time to score it and refer to it as "rogue-lite" suggests I'm not too far out of line.

There is a way to play Diablo where your character is deleted when you die. That's the roguelike angle.
Almost nobody plays Diablo this way.
That said visually and in terms of the way the maps work z Hades plays a lot like Diablo 3 did, only you are committing to builds up front, and start from scratch *while earning some permanent buffs* every time you die.

That's a fact. You are spreading misinformation.
I stand by what I said. You can't tell me about my experiences. You take care.

Yeah, I don't get the hype either. Keep doing runs over and over again. It must appeal to ADHD types. It's like a graphical version of Vampire Survivors.

It's not that you're being misunderstood, what you said was simply not true.

I have, it's not different.
