Sadly all the product page links I had redirect to the sunset announcement. It's hard to find info on their web site now. VUE can create virtual environments - realistic landscapes, fantasy environments like what you'd see in movies, music videos etc.

Here are a few old showreels [youtube.com] still up on their YouTube channel.

PlantFactory allows creation of plants, trees etc. which can be placed in virtual environments. Here's a showreel [youtube.com] for that.

VUE + PlantFactory give a lot of control to generate your environment and is typically used by creatives, but given that it's free now it's accessible to everyone. Although GenerativeAI is making it much easier to generate images/videos for casual use instead of having to learn dedicated software.

i was also initially confused at what this is used for, but then instead of bitching here, i used the same effort to open a webpage and type, but instead i used google

pretty nifty, op! haven't ever used this, but i do still remember microstation from back in my architecture school* days (when all the autocad licenses were in use on the "public" workstations), and using it to do sections for the laser cutters

I was confused because Vue is already free (referring to the wizard that generates JavaScript front-ends) but then I discovered that this seems to be different, less useful software.

Reminds me of a software from the early PC days called Bryce 3D

If you don't know then you can either a) read about it on their page; b) Google it (novel idea); or c) decide you don't need it.

Slickdeals is really more intended to be a place where deals are posted, not to do all your research for you. Posts about knives and kitchenware aren't really there to describe what each piece does, it's just letting know so you can go get it if you want it.

if you have the info, you need to share it. and the OP should give a clear description as well

You're a freaking luminary in this thread! for the novel idea of googling something. Sorry, couldn't help a little but cheeky, but I can't believe that people think their time is so important they can't be bothered to Google anymore, but are happy to expect someone else to do it for them. Thanks for doing the couple minutes of research instead of whining and thumbs downing (which is counterproductive for a great piece of free software…)
