    If you are thinking of getting because of seeing tv show, the story is reimagined for tv with many different characters and slightly altered plot from the books.

    With that said, I found books just ok. The pacing and focus from chapter to chapter is almost jarring with long, slow parts and then something major happens and huge change in an event or outcome and many plot/story holes.

    I never felt convinced with some of the back story, but "Shift" was definitely my favorite book in series.

    Good deal, but slightly overrated book series imo.

    Looks like I got this for $2 on Kindle back in March of this year. I guess the TV show upped the price.

    Thanks. I bought it because for $5 it's cheaper than two trips to the library and each title had a waitlist a mile long on Libby.

    Okay now explain the different versions of the book. The one I got from the library started with some House member designing the silos and spoiling what was going on, but the audiobook version I had followed what I saw on Apple TV pretty closely. šŸ¤”šŸ˜•

    (Though admittedly the audiobook told a lot more about what the sheriff saw outside than the show didā€¦)

    The house member storyline is the beginning of Shift, the 2nd book. The TV show is the start of Wool, the 1st book.

    No, three seasons should be fine. There is a lot of filler, frankly garbage, that they can skip over. The show is so much better than the books. It's up there with Lovely Bones and Children of Men for being so much better than their books.

    I liked Wool well enough but Shift ruined it for me. It was ok until the extremely disappointing premise was revealed and doubled down on. Maybe I should give Dust a chance since there are people saying they wish they skipped shift but I can't unknow that dumb foundation that makes the rest of the story seem worthless.
