Soft fleece throws are widely available, loved and used. They are microfiber polyester and they won't kill anyone. Why are people so snobby about polyester? I bought the cotton ones here but I have plenty of polyester throw blankets that are soft and warm. Keep one in your car.

Most of these prices have gone up since the post but the green Turkish cotton one was still $9.99.
