Caution: ARM incompatibility issues with some software with older drivers that may not have been updated. Just know what you want to use it with and for and do your research.

Not sure but you might in a crisis using anything else but Microsoft apps.

Good tablet for specific uses, but this should be lower in price by now. These were cheaper few months ago.

If you don't need it, wait until summer and fall and you will have these being liquidated to make room for the first real ARM PC ever with a brand new surface line up which will put all previous gen to shame.

Just in case anyone was confused by the naming convention like me. The Surface Pro X is older than the Surface Pro 7+, 8, and 9. Compare specs though as year range isn't always indicative of better parts.

"The SQ2 chip inside the Surface Pro X is a 64-bit ARM processor."
"Arm versions of Windows 10 include emulation technology that enables existing unmodified x86 apps to run on Arm devices."
Basically, it will run some of your x86 and x64 apps... slowly. Others it won't run at all.

Took a look at past deals, and I think this is the cheapest the SQ2 version has been. The SQ1 version has been around $400, not sure how big the gap is between them.

I think this is great as a secondary computer. The only thing that prevents me from picking one up is that I already have 5+ other secondary computers.

I have this tablet with a 256GB SSD and LTE. A couple of notes about this deal. First of all, the Surface Pro X was touted as a low power consumption device that had LTE built-in. This is one of the cheaper later versions without LTE, it is wi-fi only. Another thing to note is that most of the negative reviews on these were when these ARM devices ran Windows 10. I had one of these back then and there were a lot of things that didn't work, so I got rid of it. Once Windows 11 was released, the OS emulates and runs any Windows applications. I have owned almost every Surface Pro since they came out and I will say that I get twice the battery life on the Pro X than any other Surface I've ever owned. Also, since it is fanless, it is much slimmer and lighter than the Surface Pro 8 or 9. It's the thinnest 13" display Surface ever made. The performance is similar to an i5 version, and it runs anything I have thrown at it.

I have the original Surface Pro X that I bought maybe 6 months ago for $400 via Slickdeals and it came with a keyboard. I wasn't sure it would be worth it when I bought it and MAN I'm glad I did. I love this thing and I use it constantly. I'm typing this up on it right now.

For a general purpose "laptop" or tablet this thing is awesome. It's super light and thin, the battery lasts FOREVER, and it's reasonably snappy. I haven't had any issues with app compatibility. It runs everything I have thrown at it. Most apps I run already have ARM64 versions and the few that don't run just fine in compatibility mode. I also love that I can charge it up via USC-C just like my phone so I only have to carry one charger on trips. My battery pack works with it too. This thing is perfect for travel and home. I really can't sing it's praises enough.

My $.02 anyway.

There was sq2 with 256gb and 16 ram slightly cheaper. Nevertheless, it's still a decent price, but unless there's a need, this is one tech that deserves waiting. I know with all tech, waiting is laughable because it's always better to wait until a need, of course. However, PC is about to take a leap forward and especially true now

FYI - Touchscreen experience in Windows is no where close to what is on Android or iOS. So if you are under impression that your workflow will be much better with touch screen, you should think twice.

I have one of the Dell XPS touch screen laptops, bought it thinking that touch screen would be very helpful. But found it hard way that windows is not designed for touch. Even though touch screen works, its never useful, its never better vs using a trackpad. All the icons are so small, you dont touch what you intend to touch. Windows makes icons spaced out and bigger but apps like Chrome is still not optimized on windows for touch. Also, a lot of things on windows require right click. Touching with two fingers on small icon or text is just impractical

If it's 1.7lb without the keyboard, that's still too heavy. I don't know how long we will have to wait for a device like this to come in at iPad Air 2 specs. For me, it had the perfect dimensions for something I want to hold for long periods of time.
