Interestingly though when I'm sick, I tend to have clearer urine. When I take it as a precentive, it tends to be more yellow. Hydration is usually the same.
So, my unscientific approach would make me feel as though our bodies do use it when we are sick and it's more visible when I'm not sick.
I also read somewhere that you could take 1 gram per hour for every hour you were sick so long as you drank enough water. Vit c in higher concentrations acts as a natural microbial/viral. I wasn't brave enough to do it every hour, but I've taken larger concentrations and seem to feel better. I've taken 4 to 5 1000MG a day though. Watee is the key though or you will get stones.

Folks should know that citric acid is primarily made from feeding Aspergillus niger (a mold) sugar in an industrial process. Minimal actual citrus juice is used in making this product. They put the picture of the citrus on the pack to make you feel it is natural, but it is a fairly industrial process that doesn't use citrus fruit that is used by the industry when including the ingredient "citric acid."
