Let me get this straight. You want us to believe that every review on this knife is wrong/fake. That Crescent, one of the worlds largest tool manufacturers, is openly committing fraud. And that the "knife is junk" simply because you say so (not because you've used it). So, no offense, but I think that makes us all a little skeptical of your "30 yrs in the knife business" claim. In fact, I'd wager that most people here would trust my 0 yrs of knife experience over your 30 yrs. 🥱

D2 is a tool steel.

Crecent is a tool company with many years of experience with tool steels.

This isn't a cheap knife, just an insane cheap price from one retailer.

Would you think more of the knife if it was more money?

Can you say 100% that this isn't D2?

I think you're the one being a tool right now.

Not a bad price but I don't see anywhere it says that it's D2 on the listing.

This design looks like it might be "inspired by" Kershaw Leek or one of their other Ken Onion knives though.

Interesting I didn't notice on the site it doesn't list the steel.

On the side of my blade under the model number (CPK350A) it does say D2

These are incredibly nice knives for the price. I have two, one being the plastic (maybe G10?) handle which is grippier. They both have smooth flip action. They are just a smidge large for EDC for me, but I carry a lot of EDC stuff so my belt/pockets are already heavy. I got mine on a previous deal (not quite as good as this deal) and several co-workers ordered themselves these knives after my show-and-tell.

How do these rebates work anyway? Also great knife. Have one that I paid full price for a couple years ago ($30) and thought it was a good deal at that price

By time you pay for shipping, you're getting it at the same price on Amazon. There's no free shipping.

If you have to have it shipped, you can probably forget about using the rebate too, as it comes in the form of a in-store only merchandise credit. Menards deals, for the most part, are great for those that have a store nearby and so-so to downright terrible for those who live in other parts of the country.

Mail it in with your relative's address and let them have a small credit to spend when they go shopping sometime.

There is no way this could be real quality d2 steel. For the price anyone making them would be selling for a loss and would go out of business. You can't cover costs at $10 per knife.

In looking at the conditions for the rebate it is a store credit that can be given for an online purchase, but once received, it must be used in person after receiving the credit at a brick-and-mortar Menards. How odd.

" Online orders and products purchased in-store qualify for rebate redemption. Mail-in Rebate is in the form of merchandise credit check, valid in-store only. Merchandise credit check is not valid towards purchases made on MENARDS.COM®.

I understand your scepticism. Even if the D2 stamp is fake, it is still a really nice knife. Granted, I doubt Crescent is falsly advertising, With a sale-price and a gift-card rebate (which I guess I'll be sending to a friend in Minesota who has a Menards) it is a hard deal to pass. I have a knife collection with a lot of higher dollar knives... but this is a daily user fer-sher.

Cut things and use it as a pry-bar. If it breaks you won't be out much... but I bet it won't break.
