My advice, not worth buying Microsoft laptops, overvalued, no Fair trade in, battery swelling. You can get the one from Asus for 600$ newer ram and CPU.

Which Asus do you recommend? Been looking for something to do field work on.

It was active 12 days ago , sure it will be on sale again. But the screen is better on Microsoft. Otherwise everything is better in Asus .

Surface Pro's screen is smaller, taller and has higher resolution, meaning better pixel density which makes texts more clearer and crisp. For those purposes, your Surface screen is better. What you get with this is a faster display for gaming and huge performance bump.

Microsoft has done a very nice job with the displays on most of their Surface Pro tablets. Note the difference in pixels per inch, which greatly favors the Surface Pro 4 (smaller screen but considerably more pixels). I don't think you'll notice much of a difference if you're looking at text documents, but if you regularly view & edit images / graphics / video created in higher resolution than FHD+, you'll be able to tell.

Surface Pro 4 tablet has an excellent screen -- 12.3", 2736 x 1834 pixels (~267 pixels per inch), 100% sRGB, and 430 nits brightness. Aspect ratio is 3:2 (2736 / 1834 = 3 / 2 = 1.5 / 1). Great for productivity but you'll see slightly larger black borders when viewing 16:9 movies.

ASUS ROG Flow Z13 has an excellent screen, too, about 1" larger (diag) but it's lower resolution -- 13.4", 1920 x 1200 pixels (~168 pixels per inch), 100% sRGB, and 500 nits brightness per the SD listing. Aspect ratio is 16:10 (1920 / 1200 = 1.6 / 1). Better for productivity than 16:9, but not quite as good as 3:2 (which is roughly 16:10.7, so less scrolling). You'll see a smaller black border when watching 16:9 movies.

I almost purchased an 8gb RAM SP8 at Target through AntOnline, but a few of the reviews mentioned very poor battery life.

I'm assuming the SP8 is older stock with degraded batteries, and after watching videos comparing SP8 and SP9 repairability, I'm planning to wait around for a SP9 deal.

Steve Jobs had his vision for smartphones/tablets and Bill Gates had his, and I mean going back to the late 90s. Steve Jobs proved the market but surprisingly, the Surface Pro line was the first tablet worth a darn, which was the realization of Gates vision. It's just about the technology being available to make these things a reality. Props to Gates he was the true visionary in this case EEK!

I have a surface pro, first the battery died and would not charge, so I had to attach it to the keyboard at all time in order to use. I google searched and it appears to be a common problem for surface pro. Then one day the keyboard stopped working too; some buttons don't work for no reasons. I told myself I would never get a surface pro ever again.

I have had the Surface Pro 6 for 5 years and it is the best laptop/tablet I have ever bought. And I have owned ASUS, HP, Dell, Samsung and Lenovo laptops through the years. The Surface just works, never has had one hiccup. I plan on using it another 4-5 years.

I had the Surface Pro 7 i5 8gb version. Battery life was terrible with very few software installed. After a year it would last maybe 2-3 hours just having Chrome open. 1-2 hours when I needed to actually work.
Also not a comfortable typing experience for bigger hands. Mine would cramp up after 15-20 min of typing. Not to mention how much the type cover bounces when typing fast.
IMO too many trade-off were had for this full-fledged laptop experience in a thin tablet size, especially the battery drain. Charger on hand always.
I never used the Pro 8 but I'm sure they didn't fix all the issues I had, especially with battery. I never got the advertised Pro 7 battery life even out of the box. Having device on sleep still drains a good amount over night.

First of all, don't use Chrome, it's a complete resource hog. And secondly, why would you even use sleep mode, it only takes about 10 seconds to boot. Are you in that much of a hurry?

That's a shame, except this isn't a laptop.
