Since I'm in the Carolinas I have lots of yummy local options, but I will say that it appears that Heinz is not using High Fructose Corn Syrup in their BBQ sauces. At least none on this page.
George's is 8 bucks a bottle tho.
I have. It's like it says: Sweet and tangy with vinegar. I like it.

If you like vinegar in your BBQ sauce or ketchup, you will probably like this. If not, then not.

My recommendation would be to try it and then make your own if you like it. Pretty easy to make.

Don't all ketchup recipes include vinegar and sweeteners, making them sweet and tangy? Does this just have more vinegar, giving the effect of the mixture of vinegar and ketchup on fish and chips?

Yes, I also have their Memphis style of BQ. Real sugar instead of the crap High Fructose. Good deal.

What do you dislike about high fructose corn syrup?

I am in NC and it is in every grocery store for $2 something. I buy it by the gallon though and that is around $14 I think.

I appreciate the attempt from Heinz. But anybody who knows SouthEastern NC BBQ will tell you, there is no ketchup in the BBQ sauce.

For those poor souls who have never been blessed with the experience of NC BBQ, we take it VERY seriously. Big Grin
Some of the best memories from college are of tailgating at ECU with B's BBQ.

If you are in NC and want to sample Heaven on Earth....try these stops.
I can personally vouch for B's and Wilber's.
(I warn you though, B's closes the doors when they sell out for the day..and that can be early on Gameday)

It's BBQ sauce. Carolina sauce is usually a thinner tangy sauce with less sweet and less molasses taste than the typical sauce.

I'm going to have to look for this at Food Lion and HT then - I haven't seen it at either. I've been buying George's vinegar-based sauce from Nashville (NC). Is the new Wilber's as good as the original? I've been to Parker's but need to go to B's and Skylight Inn and try it - not as many choices in the Triangle.

""anybody who knows SouthEastern NC BBQ will tell you, there is no ketchup in the BBQ sauce.""

What's in that sauce? No tomato sauce/paste/puree?

Any one ever tried this flavor before?

I buy it by the box of six when I near running out of this flavor, it is my favorite "store bought" bbq sauce. I'm from North Carolina and prefer a more spicy vinegary sauce, but a little thicker than what you typically would get with eastern style sauce. I think it's just about perfect.

That said, I know how personal people take comments on bbq sauce so I fully expect to get roasted for that comment. Don't yuck my yum.
