Tripp lite sucks, my PS5 died on a Tripp Lite during a power surge and they wasted hours of my time acting like they'd cover it and then screwed me in the end and didn't give me anything at all
I once installed three TVs in a bar with brand new Tripp Lite surge protectors. During a wind storm, a high voltage cable fell and landed on local distribution cables, causing a massive surge in the neighborhood.

All three TVs were fried. I filed a claim with Tripp Lite, including proof of purchase and even a copy of the letter we received from the power company stating the cause of the power surge.

Tripp Lite asked me to send in the surge protectors for analysis. They denied the claim, stating that analysis showed that all three were operating properly and showed no signs of a power surge. Yet all three TVs had fried power supply circuit boards.

I only buy APC from now on.
One has telephone which is obsolete and the other has usb

I do see as someone who replied me earlier that this was tracked on Keepa and CCC from October 2023. It still doesn't answer why Amazon says it's been available since 2017 with only 22 reviews.

Was looking for surge protectors recently and I found that the Amazon Basics Rectangle 12-Outlet Power Strip Surge Protector is better with 4,320 Joule and 330 V clamping (https://a.co/d/eho8fAt) or the TrickleStar TS1205 12-Outlet PRO Series Surge Protector with 2 USB Charging Ports with 3420 Joules and 330 V clamping (https://a.co/d/e9p5vLa) for roughly the same price.

How often do you reckon you need to replace these?

The better conversation should be with your insurance company. "Will MET certification be an appropriate substitute for for UL?"

Because if this thing catches fire and the worst should happen, many insurance companies won't pay out a dime if the item that started the fire isn't UL certified.
Damn, I did not know this. Even though I don't buy things that are questionable, and folks like you on these threads always provide great information to further educate others.

I wonder how many chargers/plugs that come with various devices may not be UL certified.

What I'm concerned about is that, on the product page, there's no indication that this device is UL (or even ETL) approved! I've used several APC surge devices and have never seen this. If it's an oversight (only on the product page), then it's a significant error, but, if not, it's pointless to use ANY surge device that's missing the UL (or ETL) certification!
Product Certifications:
MET Canada
MET USA

further googling indicates that MET certification meets UL standards.

Out of curiosity, where did you find the clamping voltage specs for the Amazon Basics model? I didn't see it mentioned on the sales page or in the user manual.

It's in one of the pictures of the product's underside. Also if you search reviews, people mention that only the 12 outlet version has the lower and more desirable 330v/400v clamping voltage.

7 outlet version boosts it to 400/500 clamping, 4500 joules!!!

TrickleStar seems to be better. Has 10 years warranty and is made of ceramic instead of MOV. Plus, it is an American company.
