Brother printers are solid workhorse type printers. I have one 2270DW since last 6-7 years and it's still going strong. I got it for 50 bucks but it was pre COVID slickdeal.

This is a great printer. A real toner saver and the wireless function is something once you have, you can never go back. That being said $11 off is not really a slickdeal, merely a discount. Got mine for $50ish from amazon. Not sure if we will see another deal anytime soon but that was one worthy of the moniker.

That being said, if you need a B&W printer with no obtrusive software installs, saves per print charges and just works forever, this is the one.

I agree that the wireless setup is clunky as you have to use the units buttons. Once I found a youtube tutorial and got it set up, the wireless function is amazing. Works with my 1 pc, 3 apple computers, 2 laptops and all the household iphones.

Bought this at the beginning of pandemic/WFH and haven't even changed the toner yet. This thing just works. I was coming from the third or fourth AIO Inkjet that were used the previous 10 years and I thought I'd miss the color printing and scanning. I haven't had a single time I "needed" either of those features. Plus no headache with those darn ink cartridges. Would recommend this to anyone who just needs reliable printing.

Yeah I am still using my HL-2170W that I got in 2010. Only thing I wished it had was AirPrint and the print quality could be better/darker. It's disappointing that I can't seem to find any reviews on print quality anymore. I could of swore that the old HP LaserJets were sharper/darker…

no. This is a laser printer. It uses toner powder and heat to apply the image to paper. Cheaper and less wasteful then inkjet (liquid).

FWIW….As a blissfully retired Xerox engineer who was responsible for the design and manufacture of laser toner print cartridges I've own Brother laser printers for years for home use. Not only are they reliable printers but their toner cartridges are extremely easy to refill with a couple of bucks of toner. Been using the same cartridge for the past decade...just dump out the residual toner, reset the gears and refill it with aftermarket toner once a year. About 10 min of work. Is the print quality as good as new….no….but more the adequate for black prints…. The xerographic cartridge….the one with the photoreceptor drum….is also running well for the past decade.

I don't know about refilling toners by yourself, but i makes such a mess and I've refilled a toner once and the printouts came up all messy. Ever since then, I would just buy 3rd party toners for cheap.

This is basically the exact same Brother model that has been around for decades under various model numbers. Mine is a HL- 2270DW. I have used it for over 10 years and this thing is a tank still going strong. Highly recommended for a basic laser printer with double sided printing. I think I paid like $50 many years ago. I am guessing the new toners use a chip now to stop you from using generic where mine had really cheap replacement toner without a chip.

I've got the same... if yours fails to pick up paper.. it's a small clip on the side that can be replaced for under 10.00... mine is at least 6 years old, and that clip finally broke.
