My whole family easily prints from phones, iPads, computers and it was simple to get them going. I would definitely buy another Brother if I move up to color 11x17. The ease of use alone makes me a happy customer.

been using the cheaper brother tn660 cartridges with the gear hack but the drum is nearing end of life (10309 pages). i know there are cheap knockoff drums but doubt they will last 12k pages like the oem. since oem dr630 drum by itself is $75, went ahead and bought one. that way once the drum dies, i can just swap it out with the new printer and don't need to go thru swapping out gears every toner change. also no tax here in fl during the tax break doesn't hurt.

i have a MFC brother and there is a faint black line that is on every page on the left side, but i was told that's due to toner powder getting on a roller and that can be cleaned with alcohol and a micro fiber towel via the access panel in the back.
but also, text is appearing a bit fuzzy and is no longer as crisp as it used to be

My printer uses the same cartridge that these use. Third party cartridges are $25 - $40. These printers do NOT block third party cartridges. However they will stop showing you the toner level, which isnt a real big deal since you its not like the printer dies if you run out of toner, and you will find out sooner than later the toner is running out by your prints.
If you still want to be able to retain the ability to track toner and trick the printer into having genuines, here's a tip
These printers come with a starter cartridge. That starter cartridge is a genuine cartridge, which means it has a chip.
The chip is very easy to get to. If you flip the toner upside down, look at the right side. There is a tiny chip that is glued to the cartridge.
Using a small flathead screwdriver or small pry tool, you can pry that out. Be careful not to scratch the copper on it. Grab your third party cartridge; you'll find they have their own chip in these cartridges. Do the same process to take them out, then insert the genuine chip in and make sure you use the same orientation.
Once you figure out how to do this it's about 5 minutes of effort.
I've used the same chip from the starter cartridge for my past 5 3rd party cartridges over the past 4 years.
