They're probably polyester which is not a great material for suit. You want wool.

who in their right mind would spend 200 on a SS chain with 14k plating? [nordstromrack.com] After 89 % discount this should be under 5!

Not necessarily true anymore. I wear a lot of suits for work. Some of the new stretch material that's cotton/poly wears a lot better than wool and cotton of days past. You keep crisp lines, it conforms to your body better, it's cooler, and a LOT easier to care for.

That being said, it really depends on the brand and manufacturing process. There are some bad poly blend suits out there that fray or have that shiny "plastic" look. Some of the good ones are fantastic though. They're even combining spandex and wool fibers now to get the best of both worlds. English Laundry, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kohrs, Boss, and Nordstrom's Tech-Smart line all have great blended suits that look great and you don't have to spend $1000 on with $15/week dry cleaning bills.

Still $10 shipping even if shipping to a store for pickup… oof. What's even the point of that?

All those ma&pa pallet stores have stolen their inventory. That's where I'm finding the good clothes these days. They tend to advertise on Facebook Marketplace a lot. Just got two pair of Bruno Magli dress shoes right before Christmas for $35 each.

I found some decent sweaters with a cashmere cotton blend for 30 bucks or less. Not bad if it looks as good as it does in the pic.

I don't wear a lot of suits but I agree... for the casual we don't need wool, you wear like 5X a year why would you need wool.

100% accurate. To be honest, I do not even think the stuff in 'the rack' is the same product lines that come out of the retail side. 15 years ago, the stuff at Nordstrom Rack as the same stuff you could go out and find in the retail store (same quality, etc - just on clearance.)

Now this stuff just feels like cheap Chinese/Taiwan/India garbage with quality control issues.

The Rack offerings remind me of the shoes Adidas puts on its website for $25 "marked down for clearance" from $125 but are really just the cheapest garbage material and quality that sell at that price year round and last about the same length.

Neither of these once great retailers are unique in this as I've been seeing this across countless (once great) name brands over the past 20-30 years as those brands get bought out for the name. Once the brand name is bought, the brand goes from top quality to the absolute bottom of the barrel and survive on the strength of the brand name.

It's a shame. But I digress and hop off my soap box now (carry on.)

Says the normal price of an 8.7" gold plated stainless steal chain is $228.99
🤣 anyone spending 2 racks on a stailess steal chain needs a swift kick in the crotch
