Not quite as slick as the previous $200 deal where they were accepting offers at $180 but this is a good unit at n around 200. Good for those who don't want their phone doubling as their handheld ($100 expense getting a backbone). Plus phone screen aspect ratio isn't 16:9 so likely getting a larger usable image here. Steam deck right now the most desirable one is clearly the oled model which is quite a bit more. You can get an original model refurb for cheaper yes bur with significantly less battery life and a much larger and heavier chassis. So depends on what you want to use the unit for balanced with price and ergonomics.

I don't know. if you already have a xbox or a playstation controller, a clip will cost you $20.
the screen seems nice & the controller looks ergonomic. but it isn't as fixable as using a clip or a telescopic controller. plus, for emulating DS / 3DS, a longer screen could be just as good or better, if you don't mind the screens being side by side.
the price is a lot cheaper than the MSRP, but the product itself doesn't scream 'slick' for even $200.
Att gave me one of these for free when I signed up for fiber. Seems like a nice unit to me, it's really just an android tablet that's geared toward gaming. Much better experience than using the phone clip on device I had been using. I may end up getting another one soon. If you're just a casual gamer then this unit works just fine for that and I'd say it's worth $210 easily.

Personally, having used the clips, the Razer Kishi and looking at other options, having one solid case + active cooling makes this far more attractive. However, if you can stomach the software support (or potential lack thereof) with an Odin 2 or Retroid Pocket 4, I think I'd suggest those instead. Similar price points, but stronger hardware.

Agreed that the clips in controllers is probably the cheapest but worst solution regarding actual comfort and ergonomics. The Odin 2 and retroid 4 would be decent alternatives. Smaller screens with less battery life but more raw power if you were looking at emulating higher end systems. G cloud is more if your goal is Xbox cloud gaming and streaming your PS5 which is my use case.

I don't get all the hate for this "Cloud" aka streaming device not being a Steam Deck or emulator....it isn't trying to be either. Same comparisons come up every time, spend twice as much on a Steam Deck or half the amount on an emulator when the target audience does not want either.
I have an absurd amount of time playing my Steam Deck therefore not hating on it as a platform. Using the SD I have dabbled in streaming games from my Xbox and PS4. Works but not great, not terrible either. Also devices like the Razer Kishi V2, again, okay for streaming to your phone but also borderline suck for ergonomics like others have suggested. If you want to do nothing but stream games, why wouldn't you want a purpose built device as opposed to buying into a bundle of compromises?

It's not twice as much for a steam deck though. It's maybe an extra 60 bucks more?

I'm talking new prices, can't compare used on one and new on the other. Steam Deck new is $350, so almost double.
And still, this is NOT trying to be a Steam Deck so to me the comparison seems odd. Judging a baseball player on their ability to dunk a basketball on a football field.

Great deal - I got the $180 deal recently and would be happy paying up to ~$250 total for it.
I've tried Razer Kishi, Gamesir G8, Backbone, Gamevice Flex, and a controller clip with PS5/XSX controllers. G Cloud beats them all imo:
-Controller+clip ofc has console-like controls but the ergonomics/weight distribution kinda negate that benefit
-G Cloud joysticks are second only to console controllers. Kishi v1' and Gamevice Flex joysticks are comparable but are not compatible with iPhone 15 so those are out. Backbone and Kishi v2 joysticks are abysmal for FPS accuracy so those are out. G Cloud's customizable sensitivity helps a ton foo.
-Gamesir G8 is the only comparable alternative. Barely more portable than G Cloud; if you're carrying the G8 the G Cloud isn't that much bulkier. The joysticks on the G Cloud also feel just a bit tighter and more precise (also aided by the custom sensitivity mapping).
-G Cloud is more convenient since it's a dedicated screen which means you can be up and running in seconds. And the screen is really nice, and the size is noticeable over my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Only time I prefer my G8 is at work or outside the house where I need the portability and my own phone's LTE data.
$300+ is way too expensive for a cloud only device but I didn't want the bulk of a Steamdeck. For $180-$250 the G Cloud was worth trying and in the last 1-2 weeks has been my go-to often even over my TV. PS Portal is $199 but I'm happy to sacrifice Dualsense haptics for the option to play Xbox/xCloud and native Android options.
Sorry for the lengthy writeup but I hope I hope it saves someone the time and effort I've spent comparing nearly a dozen options over a span of months.
(The Elo Vagabond also seems promising but at $150, I can't justify that over the G Cloud for just $30-$50 more)

Good device for streaming my steam library from my couch. Battery life is really good, much better than my steam deck.
This could stream a few games that my steamdeck failed to do, for some reason. The cursor on the remote system didn't get snapped to the game properly.

LOL, find me a buy it now listing that is "Open box: An item in excellent, new condition with no wear." (from the listing) Steam Deck on eBay for "$60 more" Not used. Huge difference between open box and something with hundreds of hours of use.
And for the 50th Time....THIS...IS...NOT....EVEN...IN....THE...SAME...CATAGORY.....AS....A....STEAM....DECK....OR....IS....TRYING....TO....BE. You seem hell bent on arguing against case no one is trying to make. N

Steam Deck and G Cloud are in quite similar categories, it's only that SD can play both local and cloud while being less portable.
The G Cloud can only play cloud and is more portable.
The sports comparison is quite poor since Steam vs. GFN/Xbox libraries have a ton of overlap. Both are console gaming handhelds at the end of the day..
edit: buddy needs to chill down lol
