OP, I'm seeing the 15" Macbook in the URL. Is there a different link? Thanks

Does the earlier gen base M1 air has better performance than this because of the dual channel SSD?

yeah, but it doesn't have better performance on anything other than read/write.
m2 blows away m1 in every aspect. and nicer.

don't get m1 imo

8GB MB Airs should retail for $750. Any higher and it better be 16GB.

I had the 8gb version and it froze a lot when running Power Point, Excel and browser. I sold it and upgraded to the 16GB RAM. 8gb might be enough for light office work and browsing.

If your definition of performance is "benchmark values by geeks", then yes. In real life, you'll realize 0 difference.

I've been using my 8GB/512GB M2 13" since release and NEVER had any freezing problems with it... and I use multiple office applications and Adobe Photoshop at the same time, along with browsing and music play. Everyone's configuration and use case is different. A blanket "8GB is too low", especially for a MacOS machine, is nonsensical. It's not an apples to apples comparison, but I run the same programs on my 14" Yoga 9i that has 16GB RAM, and there's zero difference in performance between the 2 machines under same use.

Gotta charger a premium for RAM... one of the cheaper components in a computer.

Are you using multiple monitors? That's a lot of stuff to be simultaneously working on.
