Americans coming here like myself, it reminds us of how a whole country can be so courteous and respectful to each other, and band together without hatred. You can see it from the kids on the street, to the elderly walking every morning. I just quick bow to everyone, as foreigners, they see you are showing respect.
The traffic is intense, but nothing outside of large metro USA areas of course.. freeways have traffic lights, are set at about 55mph, but doable.
We got a nice 4 magnitude 3 on the shindo scale here on the 1st 2024, which was intense on the 12th floor, but it's going well for the moment. We are headed to Hakodate in 3 days for a week in Hokkaido, which is another place well overlooked by travelers. The seafood there is awesome, and there's so much to see. We'll be going back in Feb for the winter festival in Sapporo, another super cool thing to see every year. Note that most of Nihon is super dry during the winter, so be prepared to bring some lotion. I will also note that *Japanese people do not take the cold very well.. so be prepared to be super hot in most places. That's just how it goes. Inside of restaurants etc, it's usually... like 80F. Just saying
The food is great, and the service is amazing. We just got back from Fuji speedway in Shizuoka prefecture, awesome place, just built 2 years ago. I highly recommend, There is a cool museum inside, with tons of race cars, and it's really futuristic in tech. We woke up at about 8:30am to the cars starting practice on the speedway right outside the hotel, it's a site to see guys. On the other side, is Fuji-san in all it's glory. Here are a few shots I took below. You can see the caliber of cars we seen in the parking lot there.
I would say to many Americans coming here, just be sure to step into another realm. It's totally unlike anything in the US. Enjoy the hot springs (if you can take being 100% naked with tons of other people), enjoy the food, embrace the culture, and take a deep breath and relax. It's like stepping into a different world. Cheers

Further I hadn't seen news of any bombing. Link?
Tokyo was super safe, clean and easy to navigate with Google maps and Google Translate.
