Hi, I could use your advice. Is the 40v's the longest lasting? I have the 18v and the vacuum I use it on runs out quickly.

It's not 2 6Ah batteries and 2 4Ah batteries, it's one of each. So $60 for the 6Ah and $40 for the 4Ah.
That's pretty standard "good deal" pricing for tool batteries. $10/Ah is the gold standard around here.
Occasionally you can get an even better deal, but it's less often and may require returning part of a multi-item combo deal.

I don't think Ryobi makes 40v vacuums. I could be wrong. Their 40v battery line is for more powerful devices. Big chain saws, bigger lawn mowers. Mostly lawn tools. What you need is a higher "aH". Using a 6aH is a good size for more demanding products like their shop vacuums. Their 8 and bigger are A LOT more expensive and don't go on sale often. I recommend getting this set or the 2 pack 6aH battery set when it goes on sale.

Long story short, you can't just take a 40v battery and put it in an 18v tool. Get a higher aH battery. 6 will get you more time and power.

I have many Ryobi 18v batteries. Several standard, 4 old hp, and some newer HP. I use all batteries in the tool rotation. This includes running fans during the summer and lights for outdoor sports during the winter. I keep them in my Texas garage either on the fast charger, loaded in the tools, or on the shelf. I have had one 2ah and one 4ah battery fail in the last 10 years. Ryobi has been a great ecosystem, and the batteries hold up well.

I've had 4 go bad on me. I managed to get home Depot to take back 2 of them. One of the batteries was pretty new and it still went bad.
They don't last forever, but they're pretty good.
