Found this on Ebay. This watch is qualified for the 20% coupon (NEWYEARDEAL) on ebay. After the coupon, the final price is $510. It looks a good price. Ends on 1/7
Good price, but note this is not the pro or sapphire version.
Appears to be Garmin part # 010-02541-10 https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/73...0-02541-10
eBay page lists part number as 010-02541-00 (maybe typo because I went through all the watches on that product page and couldn't find any other 010-02541-XX lookalikes).

As someone who always has had the larger Samsung watches (my favorite being the S3 Frontier) what exactly is there to gain here besides a different eco system and solar charging?
The newest version of the watch has actually good battery life, but never have been too impressed with Samsungs apps and implimentations.
The S3 Frontier was by far the best, and had the super cool magnetic barcode transmitter.
But as far as features I see on the product page at Garmin, I don't see anything stand out, and some of the premium things like the OLED screen are standard features I am already used to having.
These Garmin watches remind me of my first watch I had in the MIlitary, feeling a bit nostalgic and so that is why I am asking a serious question.
I don't see OLED as "premium", as it gets a small portion of the battery life MIP gets when AOD. 40 hours isn't good battery life.
Why are people being so pompous? The battery life for Apple Watches is terrible because the watch is trying to be an iphone on your wrist.
Garmin has a much clearer focus and thus you reap the benefits of significantly better battery life and more fitness related metrics.
If you like Apple's ecosystem, have a wide array of uses, want Apple Pay and don't plan on doing multi-day hikes or ultras then Apple's watches are fine. You can still run a Marathon, do a day hike, go Scuba, rock climb, etc.
Garmins are great products and the company has a long history of bringing all their new features to older devices. Their battery life is amazing and their watches look great. But it isn't the only option.

That's fair. That's why they have both the Fenix and Epix series. I personally would turn off the always on screen if going AMOLED.
It is a little more nuanced than that though.
1. Garmin doesn't have a good LTE Watch option (the few released haven't been well received)
2. Applewatch has better HR monitoring and sleep monitoring (if not using a strap)
3. Garmin's implementation for recording workouts at the gym is still lacking
Garmin has amazing battery life and provides tons of useful data. They have a great (albeit slightly confusing) lineup at a huge range of prices - some less and some more - than Apple.
Battery life was my main requirement. Going from charging nightly to charging every other week (Garmin Enduro). I can use GPS all day without an issue now.
