If you're not doing photo printing or some other printing that requires inkjet then I suggest switching to color laser. Sounds overkill for occasional printing but I got so tired of cartridges drying up after printing a handful of pages. Switched to color laser and never looked back.

Look at the pictures for Epson printers. You will see this:



Epson has pushed out firmware updates that will completely lock out printing if it detects non-OEM ink. Research it. Lots of unhappy customers.

You misunderstood what I wrote. Epson's non-tank printers are "fixed" to not allow "compatible" ink cartridges. Of course, printers with tanks and bottles of ink, there is no way to enforce OEM only inks.

Same with HP and their non-tank printers -- fixed to not print if you use non-HP ink.
