Bought the 800 late last year, far better than my old one, almost everything comes out clean with too much pre rinsing. Costco installation was great - I was concerned because of some of the bad reviews but the person I had come do mine was fantastic.

I had a hard time deciding between the 800's CrystalDry (uses natural minerals to collect moisture, transform it into
heat, and then circulate it to expedite drying), and the 500's AutoAir (dishwasher pops itself open at end of cycle). This was to upgrade from my 100, after being frustrated about coming home from a long 13 hr shift to soaking wet dishes that were too cold to evaporate quickly.

In the end I went with the 500 because I live in an extremely dry climate, and suspected the hot dishes at end of cycle, if immediately exposed to air, would easily and quickly dry themselves.

I'd also read some reviews about the CrystalDry taking a really long time (with the dishwasher closed) , and didn't want to have to commit to a really long cycle in order to take advantage of the feature. The 500 gives me the option to use my dishes earlier if I want, while moisture still evaporates from the rest of the dishes almost as if actively drying!

Hopefully someone else can critique my understanding of the CrystalDry- but I am glad I went with the 500! I'd say the 500 is a good choice for people in arid environments. Tons of people LOVE the CrystalDry, so I think it's all about what you think will work better for your lifestyle and environment. For some people, the step from a 500 to 800 may be more lateral than a step up.

Amazing dishwashers… dishes come just as clean in my 500 as the cheapie 100. Being that Bosch gets kind of a bad rap for drying (very much deserved with the 100), I'm really delighted with my latest choice.

Crystal dry isn't as effective on plastics, and it certainly won't help if the backside of your bowls and cups have pools of water at the end of the wash. It works great on regular dishes, glassware, and metal.

The picture looks different, but I think it's the same one. Best buy often has wrong pictures.

The difference is on about $200 that everyone else charges for install and haul away, plus the additional year warranty although that's available in many credit cards

Am I the only one that angles things so they don't get those pools of water? I hate those

Check out this handy comparison chart. I think the biggest difference is the drying method.

Yes, Costco includes delivery, install, and haul away, but Costco also includes the installation kits needed , like hoses and such. Best Buy makes you buy them for $30+, plus delivery, install, and haul away are extra.

bought 800 from local retailer delivered 914 no install. no haul away.
FYI, it depends on your electrical wiring of ur old washer. you might need to purchase. bosch wiring kit($20), which does not come with the machine. Also, depending on water hookup, you might need to buy a 90-degree adapter. not part of the washer either $5 @HD but possible part of a paid setup up service.

You can tell that the ones at Best Buy and Costco are different because they have different heights. 33 7/8 (Best Buy) versus 34 1/16 (Costco)

Bosch 800 is a series and there are multiple dishwashers in the same series but different features. To make it more confusing, big box stores like Costco and best buy often have unique SKUs that are not listed on manufacturer sites.

One difference that might matter to some people is a water softener:
