Fifty bucks is a really good price for the MULE. I usually wait until they're about 50% off, which seems to always come around each year---usually when they're about to come out with a next generation model. But there's not much to improve on these. They've been around for years now and the changes are very incremental now.
I'd get this one but I have the previous generation MULE which is still going strong.
These are great for mountain biking but you can wear them hiking too.

So is this "50 percent" price? Since you're tracking prices on these. I don't really care for the $130 original price you'd have to be quite dumb to pay that.
CamelBak mule is out of stock but it doesn't seem to show this actually until you go to the cart.
For what it's worth, I think Osprey has a similar idea... And there are cheaper brands at Walmart/Amazon/etc... but I'm unsure of how good the quality may be. Noticed some Walmart reviews talking about a plastic taste, and I don't think I saw that complaint so much with CamelBak. Also have seen people recommend military surplus water bladders, but I don't offhand remember the brands. May be worth looking into.
edit: it's now properly showing the mule as out of stock on their site

Because that's how much liquid it can hold
You do understand a hydration pack is used to hold liquid, right?
