The Major Dickason's dark roast is excellent stuff. Sam's Club regularly carries 32-oz bags of the whole bean for $16.

One of the few "grocery store" coffees that has both a "best used by" date as well as a roasting date on every bag. The latter you typically don't find on mass market coffee.

Agree. I'm overstocked atm, otherwise I'd take advantage of this deal. Normally $12.89 at my local grocery store.

My local Sam's has garbage coffee. Other Sam's in places I've lived had even had local roasters in inventory, it's such a crap shoot depending on the store.

I haven't had an issue with mine yet, but I've read that superautomatics can have trouble with dark roasts because the beans tend to be oily. I've read that medium roast is preferred.

Still cheaper at Costco when it's on sale. Typically around 11 for a 32oz bag

My grinder/coffee maker says not to use dark roast too. So far I haven't had issues.

Well it wouldn't if you use a crappy grinder at home.

Espresso is usually better made from medium roast ( not dark roast) coffee.

I guess it's all relative…I prefer dark roast for my espresso and enjoy it quite well as most espresso and medium roast coffee beans have molasses infused in them which I do not like in particular as it upsets my stomach.
