I wear a lot of costco clothes (most of my wardrobe), and I have a few quality pieces from brands like Patagonia. I can't speak specifically to the Eddie Bauer coat, but in my experience Costco clothes tend to be outlet quality: stitching isn't as durable, fabrics tend to shrink and pill more, fabrics aren't as nice and tend to be heavier for the same warmth, cuts aren't as flattering, and overall quality and value varies widely depending on the piece. Patagonia stands behind their products for life, and while in theory I could return a busted 1-2 year old coat to Costco I just can't bring myself to do it. I'd also guess the Eddie Bauer uses a DWR with PFAs (but so did Patagonia until 2-3 years ago), the down in the EB isn't advertised as RDS (if you're concerned about animal welfare), and the factory conditions for the people making it were likely worse.

How does this compare to the Eddie Bauer puffer that runs for about $35 at Costco? I want to splurge but wondering if there is a huge difference.

The Belay Blue color is two color combo or pure blue. The pictures of each color have many different versions.

Both will keep you quite warm. However, the Patagonia has panache that the EB doesn't. When people see the Patagonia logo, they give you instant respect. That's something worth the extra price.

This is one of my favorite jackets. It is so light and collapsible I can take it almost anywhere with me. Extremely comfortable too. It won't be warm enough for freezing temps by itself but it does a pretty good job all things considered.

I need a replacement for My moosejaw puffer but I think I can still get another year out of it. But man, wish I needed a new puffer cause I'd bite on this deal.

🤨 I am very much hoping, for the sake of your sanity and self-respect, that your comment was meant as sarcasm. Please tell me that you forgot the /s❓

I'm guessing so but he isn't half wrong. When you see Patagonia, you immediately think oh Patagonia. Similar to other quality brands like Canada goose. My take is you don't necessarily think that with EB or a brand you see at Costco.
