I signed up for a black friday deal for peacock only to find out they now lock The Office (and tons of other content) behind a higher "tier". To heck with those shenanigans.
Hard pass on any streaming service that has ads, regardless of the price. Shoot, even their top tier still has ads.
Welp, time to buy a couple of hard drives and learn how to torrent then.

I was ok paying $15-20 a month but with all this splintering of content, BS changes (the HBO merger and downgrade to reality shows because of the new CEO), and ads on top of premium membership.?

Y'all did this to yourselves, streaming services

I have an offer for premium @ $2.99 a month, which works better for me since I have monthly entertainment with AMEX Plat.

I get not wanting to pay for something like Netflix or YTTV where the it's a much higher cost, but $30/12= $2.50/mo.

Someone also mentioned it works on the higher tier, but still only takes $30 off, which is $7.50/mo with no ads.

In the end, playoff football and other sports, the small handful exclusives, and having a little more access to content. $2.50/mo isn't bad for that when you can just take short breaks during commercials for 30-90 seconds 2x per show.

In the end, it's still cheaper than cable through whatever comcast-like provider. Only other option is sailing the high seas at this point, which is much harder to get live quality streams if you are a sports fan. Yes you can get them, but never had consistent quality.

No one should support this company. Sail the high seas instead.

Are those the websites with cam rips and crappy quality?

Im gonna rip my physical media, sell that and go from there
Depends. If you are looking for movies still in the theater then it's probably a cam but if you are looking for stuff that is streamed somewhere it's usually 1080p

Peacock is probably the worst of the mainline streaming services, it's just not worth it. I'm not counting Max because that's run by idiots but still better than Peacock. Even Apple TV+ is better, about the same amount of shows and better quality programming and no ads. [Ads don't normally bother me, but no ads is clearly better.]

Plus as others have pointed out there are weird levels and you sign up wanting to watch one thing and it's locked behind a paywall. Peacock doesn't even have the 2004 BSG. It was removed in July 2023 and didn't even move anywhere else.

Just do a free trial and watch 'Mrs. Davis', the best show / miniseries of 2023 and ignore this useless POS of a streaming thing.

THIS is interesting. Is there a specific blocklist needed? I run a pihole but get ads with Hulu/Disney/Freevee/etc.

Also, is that true for TV or watching through a laptop/tablet?

This used to be free through crapcast/xfinity but they don't do that anymore.

Anyway if you use Instacart and a Chase card I'd suggest going through the Instacart+ route as you get Peacock bundled + a lot of benefits and if you qualify you can even get the entire thing for $19/year - https://slickdeals.net/f/17087662-ymmv-1-year-of-instacart-for-19
I have chase but don't need/use instacart. If I read it correctly I can get Instacart+ for 19$ and get peacock with it? I just use it for EPL so it will be worth 20$ for one season !

Peacock Premium is free for most Xfinity customers, even internet-only accounts. It's either bundled with your TV plan (you can just log in with your xfinity account credentials) or there's an offer in Xfinity Rewards you can activate to tie it to a personal account.

With the upcoming NFL playoff games essentially being exclusive to peacock, decent deal if you want to hold onto a sub.
According to ESPN, in my area only one wildcard round game is on peacock.

Does this change to being exclusive to peacock for divisional and conf championship games?

No. Just this one. Any NBC games will also air on Peacock, but not as an exclusive.

A follow up on my previous comment. I just confirmed that as a Premium ($60 tier) subscriber, I have access to all episodes of The Office. I think the person who said otherwise is experiencing some sort of glitch or is mistaken.

The black friday a deal was the $2 a month plan, not the top tier plan
