I signed up for a black friday deal for peacock only to find out they now lock The Office (and tons of other content) behind a higher "tier". To heck with those shenanigans.
Hard pass on any streaming service that has ads, regardless of the price. Shoot, even their top tier still has ads.
Welp, time to buy a couple of hard drives and learn how to torrent then.

I was ok paying $15-20 a month but with all this splintering of content, BS changes (the HBO merger and downgrade to reality shows because of the new CEO), and ads on top of premium membership.?

Y'all did this to yourselves, streaming services

I use peacock primarily for WWE PLE's. ads don't matter to me. I've been a peacock subscriber every WWE PLE's move over. Same account the entire time. never cancelled. I pay for the annual plan, and my current subscription isn't up until August 2024.

I was pretty surprised when i put in this code it actually took it, and now is telling me my account will renew August 2024 for $29.99! So this code is NOT just for new subscribers. Current subscribers can use it. See attached.

Peacock is probably the worst of the mainline streaming services, it's just not worth it. I'm not counting Max because that's run by idiots but still better than Peacock. Even Apple TV+ is better, about the same amount of shows and better quality programming and no ads. [Ads don't normally bother me, but no ads is clearly better.]

Plus as others have pointed out there are weird levels and you sign up wanting to watch one thing and it's locked behind a paywall. Peacock doesn't even have the 2004 BSG. It was removed in July 2023 and didn't even move anywhere else.

Just do a free trial and watch 'Mrs. Davis', the best show / miniseries of 2023 and ignore this useless POS of a streaming thing.
Do you go into every thread and just complain 24 seven 🙄🙄

Just fyi. Ads are not that bad like Hulu. 60 seconds max.
Not sure how you get that, but I'm on Premium and ads are usually more than 2 minutes before a movie. A few days ago, I started "Delicious". 180 seconds ad!! I exited thinking restarting would shorten it. Nope, 210 seconds! I exited the app.

It is the beginning of the end for cable and streaming. Like someone else said, just going to start using torrents and other means of watching sports. I shouldn't need cable, Espn, Peacock, Prime etc. to watch a NFL game.

Yeah, that cost a hell of a lot more than this subscription! Smilie

If you have instacart or chase sapphire, the better deal is here: https://slickdeals.net/f/17223940-free-peacock-subscription-59-99-through-instacart-0-00

Otherwise, if you want to use this deal, i'd pair with a cashback site and an amex offer. My amex card had an offer to give an extra $6 off. Or, if you went with the plus subscription you could pair this $30 coupon with the $20 amex offer for a total of $50 off the plus package. But personally I went with the free offer I linked above.

I have an offer for premium @ $2.99 a month, which works better for me since I have monthly entertainment with AMEX Plat.
This is for 3 months only, then it reverts to $5.99/month.

You have to have one of their higher tiers of service to get Premium free. They got rid of the premium for everyone deal
Thanks for info! That makes sense. I was scratching
my head because they discontinued mine last year after sending me an email letting me know. I must be in one their lower tiers.

Will the Amex $20off even work on this as it stays "spend" $59.99 or more to get $20 off and with this offer you're only "spending" $30?

Yeah I tried the whole torrent setup but I just couldn't find a good program and UI that makes it easy for my kids to pick out their shows and episodes
I'm the OG for torrents. Back in my childhood that's all I had the means for growing up with no money. Go to kickass torrents. Think it was changed to katph . Co / then find a torrent file with active seeds / download the u torrent software to open the file with. Get stuff for free. Download vlc player to play most formats.

Just a heads up after recently subscribing to Peacock, I began receiving emails telling me that my subscription expired and click here to extend. It's an obvious phishing email, but thought I'd give everyone a heads up since the email looks pretty legit.

I seriously can't......

Why not just spend the 3 'long long long' minutes of commercials doing some jogging in place, situps, crunches, pushups, yoga poses, or... wait for it, this is big. Go to the bathroom? Make a sandwich? Get a glass of water? it's even alright if it takes bit longer, cause most starts of movies is logo & shit for the studios.

Peacock has a single long advertisement at the beginning of movies, and the entire movie is then AD FREE. Definitely fantastic in comparison to having multiple ads break up a movie, which aren't designed with commerical breaks in mind. Max has commercials in the middle of movies, shitty.

Now for shows, Peacock definitely has 2-4 commercials throughout depending on length of show. Yes some of them are 2 minutes long, most are 30-60 seconds imo. However Hulu is terrible, the worst thing ever. If not for being only $0.99, and having good selection. I'd not even pay that.
