400 watt motor means pretty weak. Around 3.33 amps. For these to be powerful you need at least 6-7 amps

I own the 24V-SS13 that I bought off of amazon for $120 and feel it was a good purchase. Appears to be same specs as far as the 24v battery and 400w motor goes.

First I live in Fargo ND and we get our share of snow. This is excellent for moving snow off decks or walkways where you would regularly shovel 1-3 inches, this is not a tool to blow out the entire driveway. Battery life is good. I've even used it to eat into a drift in my backyard for the dogs to get out last winter, took some time but it worked wonderfully taking 2-3" swipes going down

As far as this website... No idea. Doing a bit of internet sleuthing, the address for this company in NJ is about 4 miles from the main Snow Joe headquarters so entirely possible they buy all the dead stock or items to refurbish and then sell at a discount.

I have this, and it's pretty useless. Whenever I try to use it I get frustrated and just go back to using the shovel

I don't own this. I did some research when it was last up for sale on Woot. (It has been a few times now.) The 11" model isn't very good & most reviews say to avoid it. There seems to be a reason why it's on Woot, outlet & refurb sites for cheap so often. I chose to avoid it. There are larger models that have decent reviews.

I have the same experience with mine. A regular shovel works a lot better.

My experience couldn't be more different. Every time I use this thing I literally get giddy over how fun it is and how well it works. It worked so well on my sidewalks that I bought a bigger corded snow joe snow blower so I can do my entire driveway and it works just as well and I love clearing snow now. Total invested between the two is $150 so they've more than paid for themselves. I went corded on the blower because I was concerned about how long the batteries would last since they only get used a few months out of the year but I just charged up the battery on the electric shovel a few days ago and it did all my sidewalks with about 9" of snow and part of the driveway before the battery ran out which really surprised me. Then I got the cord out and finished it with the blower and it just chews through anything. I still can't believe how well these things work for the price I paid.

It is possible that my electric shovel is an older model because I got it for like $40 on a spring clearance sale on Amazon a few years ago so maybe check the reviews between this and other models to see if this one sucks in particular for some reason but in general I've loved mine and would happily pay much more to replace it when it eventually dies if I have to because it's just so damn handy and saves my back.

Edit: I just checked my Amazon history and I have the 13" version so maybe the smaller ones suck.
Here's the 15" corded blower I have which is actually cheaper that the shovel at current prices: https://www.walmart.com/ip/55376198

Totally worth $98 if you don't mind dealing with a cord.

Bought this model last year and it's definitely not meant for city use. The snow blows forward and it can land 15ft away so it will land either in your neighbor's property or at your windows if you aim towards your house. I asked my brother to see if he can design some kind of front flap to keep the snow within a reasonable distance. In the meantime, like the other comments, it's much easier just to use a shovel.

Just used this a few days ago in Chicago after a snow storm... it would not pick up the semi wet snow and would just push it along and it didn't scrap the ground sound after a few hours we had a sheet of ice... I went back to my old shovel (YMMV).

No snowblower will move last week's heavy, wet slush.

Makes sense. Snow (Sun) Joe is one of those products where if you have low expectations it'll exceed. Else, nah.

i read the thread and still decided to buy it.
1. it ended up $65 i think the price went up a little
2. the seller was super professional and quick, i received the item in 3 days, trackig notifications and email confirmations were automated and super efficient
3. the battery came charged, there were some minor body scuffs (ad as refurbished), worked right out of the box. my snow is ice at this point but it was able to reduce some test piles very impressively.
final grade: A.
