Just went to walmart.com and logged in. Got a popup offering $50 Walmart cash"Limited time only". Jan 8 2024.
*Pay $98 for the first year of an annual membership. You get $50 as Walmart cash.
If you have Amex blue card (Other Amex card also might have this) check offers (Targeted offer, Need activation first: Use for Walmart+ membership of $98+ and get $40 as statement credit) and activate it before using to buy it.
By invitation only. Offer subject to change. Restrictions apply.
So $98 -$50(Walmart cash) - $40 (Statement credit for Amex offer) = $8 effective price for 1 year Walmart+ membership
In fact if you are lucky you will see some activities (3 activities) in your Walmart + and when you complete you will get additional $10 as Walmart cash. So virtually its free.

A note about Walmart return via Fedex option.
Today I received two emails from Walmart. First one reads, "Your refund is on its way. Sorry things didn't work out. We've initiated a refund and wanted to provide a quick overview for you." Then a few hours later, I received a second email "Refund cancellation …Unfortunately, the items we received didn't match your return request. Your return has been canceled, and your original payment method has been charged $XXX.XX again for the items you were refunded for."
I called Walmart customer helpline and was told the exact same thing as the email and to send in the correct item which was impossible because I've already sent them the correct item. Walmart won't tell me what item was received and refused to send back the original item back to me. So my only option left is a credit card chargeback.
Safest return option is to wait in line at Walmart.
