Doesn't say nonstop, so looking at march dates for the $999 pp option:
JFK assuming 1stop, flight ~500/p with TAP/turkish and other similar players or ~800/p with British airways/lufthansa/etc. tier airlines
2 nights of accommodations at Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre or similar in Venice ~95/nt
2 nights of accommodations at PopApartment (studio apartment) or similar in Florence ~91/nt
2 nights of accommodations at Hotel Pineta Palace or similar in Rome ~130/nt
Rail from Mestre to Florence (tourist class), Rail from Florence to Rome (tourist class) - no idea what tourist class is but looks to be about $25/ea for business class. So $100 for this

So rough calculation of 1750-2350 for $1998, Maybe a deal if they use the bigger airlines, but if you're doing this anyway, seems easy enough to book your own and save
The dates which I was actually looking for come out to be $2099 per person.
Just got back from Rome/Florence/Venice two days ago. The place is swarming with tourists, and I wouldn't even think of doing this in the summer. 2 days per city is fine, although rushed.

It appears that Venice is charging day visitors a fee to visit. A ticket charge of €5 is imposed on visitors 14 years old and up from 8.30am to 4pm according to a recent article from TL.

Cheapest flight to Rome from US East Coast, in summer, for 2, is about $1,000 - currently (booking 5-6 months ahead is the cheapest possible, max is 300 days before you can book, and earlier you book, better the flight) For example 6 day trip Aug 19-25...

That leaves $1,000 for all the rest included in this package. But it is doable, for example in Rome for about $700-1000 for 6 days (at a nice place central place)

Rome is more expensive than Florence and Venice, so you can spread it out and get a smiliar price. But you'd have to add train, maybe another $150 for 2 (round trip Rome/Venice, 4 hours each way).

So you can easly replicate this deal if you do it yourself. ONLY thing, if the flight is going to Venice and returning from Rome (or the other way around), you would save that back trip on the train, 4 hours and $75.

I think 9 days would be better for this itinerary, and you could do 9 days for the same cost as 6...without having to stay outside of the city.

(I did 3 nights in each city, it was $200 a night average 2 years ago, but that was for 5 people)

Also, you can do self transfer flight to Italy from other EU cities, and get it same price or cheaper than RT to Rome, e.g., if Madrid is on sale for $350, you can easly find $150 RT to somewhere in Italy from Madrid - and also get to go to Madrid. Flight withing Europe are cheaper than US domestic flights, sometimes cheaper than train. Kiwi.com is great for finding flight solutions from all of Europe to a certain point, for exmaple $20 Nice/Rome

Imho 2 days is not nearly enough time unless you're the type to get in, see sights and get out. I think it takes 2 days just to settle in and start to really experience the culture of wherever you're at, especially if it's new to you.

For most people, this is probably not the trip you want.
I've done a 24hr trip in each and Venice & Florence you feel like you've seen most what you want. Rome you don't even scratch the surface.

Day 1: You will land in Venice in AM, have a great time for 2 full days
AM Day 3: Train to Florence, will have fun for 1 1/2 days in Florence seeing David & more.
Day 5 AM: Train to Rome, and this is where you will be disappointed. Rome is a BIG city with traffic, especially during the summer. Your flight will be ~midday on day 7 meaning leaving for Airport mid morning and it's a decent trip to the airport from city center.
You have 1 1/2 days to see Rome which is spread out. If you rush things, 2 hrs Vatican Tour, 2 hrs St. Peter's, 1 hr Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain, 1 hr Parthenon, 1 hr around outside of Collesium, 2 hrs Roman Forum. So yeah, you see them but very rushed and missing little things. But that is only if you are not in summer, when lines and crowds are doubling those times.
When you add extra time for getting to/from suburb hotel, your 1 1/2 days in Rome is gone in a blink of an eye.
You can do this as a value trip, but by the time you figure what you are paying for food, taxis and tickets, paying a little more fore centrally located hotels and adjusting trip length will make you happier in the end.

Quote from TheEdge :
I don't disagree with it being gross. But from my view, there's just too much to see and do. We don't even do all of the art museums or parts of town. Pantheon/Trevi Fountain/Colosseum/Vatican Museum/St. Peter's/Castel St. Angelo is two days in itself. That doesn't include the Roman Forum, some of the side piazzas (i.e. Navona, etc.), some of the nicer churches, the Spanish Steps, etc.
I think this would depend on how you see the sights.
I am not one to linger. I have not been to Italy but have been to France a lot.
When I go to Versailles for example, I can go at walking speed and feel I got what i wanted out of the visit. I am usually looking at weird things like ceilings, moldings, and how the furniture is constructed..
If I go to the Louvre, I can almost run through it. I dont need to see every picture.. Even Mona has not warranted more than 45 seconds from me. its not that I dont appreciate art mind you, I just dont see the need to linger once I have seen it.
I do enjoy sitting outside and grabbing a bite so I can watch locals go about their day.
If I were to go now, I feel I would want to go check out how some cheese is made and maybe see about bringing back a wheel of parm.

2 days per is doable but I bet you would feel somewhat rushed and that you missed out while you were there.

When I take people to France, I rent a house central to where we want to visit and drive daily to the sights so we can go at our pace and know we can always get back since we control the mode of transport. Coming from Texas, all of Europe is tiny and makes it feel like we are just driving from one end of Houston to another.

In Italy I would look for the cheapest flight option from the city where you're located.
After a hotel or air bnb should be easy to book. To transit in between cities it's very nice and convenient with their high speed trains. At least in between the mentioned cities.
Months to travel: definitely not summer. I suggest March- April, maybe beginning of May. Or September- October. In November it's nice but you might need a hoddie or a jacket.

Anyone comment on the cost/value of this package?

We took this package before Covid. Travel lightly and find a way to ship things home. Very good deal if you traveled abroad before. Look for excursions to help with what has to offer. We had a great time

Fly to rome and take a train to Venice. Venice is definitely a place to visit but those stairs get old very quickly. 2 days there is more than enough. I was in Venice in November and it was pretty crowded even during the rain, I can't imagine what happens there in summer. Rome in November was like times square 2 minutes before ball drop. Still well worth it though.
