The bunk bed in this brand was fine for my kids when younger although I built a better ladder step thing. As they got older though it was apparent it couldn't hold their weight as well.
There's a metal version with the full above and desk below that looks far more solid than this for $199, seems like a no-brainer for the material of construction. And overall more solid for 10 bucks but it's my two cents

dont trust the chinese welding. they couldnt even weld a simple pet gate. the door broke on me on the first installation.
Bought a Hillsdale Caspian model which looks very similar to this one, been holding up pretty well for the last several years. Previously I bought one (from Walmart coincidentally) made of metal tubing and the thing was horribly shaky. I'd take wood (or "wood") any day.

I would choose wood vs thin wall metal supports. This wood one weighs over 120lbs so you know it's solid wood, not laminated press board.
Laminated press board is actually probably heavier than real wood fyi
