I would choose wood vs thin wall metal supports. This wood one weighs over 120lbs so you know it's solid wood, not laminated press board.

Laminated press board is actually probably heavier than real wood fyi

The bunk bed in this brand was fine for my kids when younger although I built a better ladder step thing. As they got older though it was apparent it couldn't hold their weight as well.

There's a metal version with the full above and desk below that looks far more solid than this for $199, seems like a no-brainer for the material of construction. And overall more solid for 10 bucks but it's my two cents

Bought a Hillsdale Caspian model which looks very similar to this one, been holding up pretty well for the last several years. Previously I bought one (from Walmart coincidentally) made of metal tubing and the thing was horribly shaky. I'd take wood (or "wood") any day.

Just want everyone to know that I bought a loft bed off of Amazon from this company, Hillsdale, that was several years apart, and the quality has deteriorated between the two. The first one I purchased has thicker wood, used beefier bolts, and better paint job, and the second one was exactly the opposite.

I wouldn't trust positive reviews from several years ago as a reflection of the current product being sold.

I bought the metal one (if it's still the same) for $170 a few years back from Walmart. Disassembled 3 times with room changes and a move and has held a 10 and 8 year old fine
