I'm starting to keep almost all my physical games b/c Sony & Nintendo, & especially Microsoft will undoubtedly flood the next console market to be 99% digital systems only. And then the next step of these degenerate corporate overlords: only monthly $UBSCRIPTION game Streaming services on a digital only console.

Yes this game's extras are digital only, but when all games become digital only & we are FORCED into digital & FORCED into the high seas, at least we'll have this as a legal physical disc form.

I asked beforehand and was able to apply the 5$ monthly credit to this game in store since it wouldn't allow it online

You had to get rid of GS trade in credit? Geez I wonder why when GS isn't going go away soon.

Usually I get physical games because I end up selling it when I beat it / get tired of it, but this release has Amy and all the other extras in a download code, making it a non-"plus" version if I ever got rid of it. For this reason I'd prefer it digitally for this price or cheaper

I hope we never get to that point. There have been rumors about digital only for a decade now and it still hasn't happened. It's how I play the majority of my games... Finish it then sell on eBay, sometimes for close to cost if I got on sale

Brotha the writing is on the wall it is imminent, It is closer than ever now. You see them pushing the higher tier $ubscriptions, Xbox game pass streaming, ps plus premium. Disc sales decreasing.

Best Buy & target are STOPPING disc sales on games & movies this year. Just google that news.

Thus, honestly these are the last years to buy physical, for sure it is on the decline. So, I am stocking up on my library while I can. Then when there are no more discs for sale, I'll go to the high seas b/c digital streaming disgusts me. They are trying to blur the legal line on how people can own a product, look up Sony & other companies just removing digital games, tv shows, movies, etc that people paid for. It is the core principle of the matter of buying & having the item for me.

I just looked that up and Best Buy says they will only stop selling DVDs and Blu Rays but will continue to sell games. Makes sense since with streaming noone really buys movies anymore, myself included

Thanks for correcting me for just 2024, but my point still stands, physical sales are the minority [google.com] now. Like I said, I'm slowly building a core disc library up. So it is a matter of time before Best Buy stops selling game discs.

I purchased this game recently from GameStop for the PS4. When the game loads up it says "Sonic Origins", not "Sonic Origins Plus", so I was sure that I had been given the wrong disc. After popping it out, the cover clearly said Sonic Origins Plus, as did the art book that comes with the game and the game box. So, assumedly, this disc game is just the basic Sonic Origins collection, and the DLC code voucher that comes with the game is what they are considering makes it "plus.". It's not a bad deal, but I personally wished I had simply purchased this collection digitally since it's broken up like that.

Good points. Sonic Mania was a fanmade passion project out of the fan's love, & then the same independent team went the extra mile & made Sonic Mania Plus. Sonic Mania Plus is a Completely worth it passion project, b/c it had the physical extras & printed disc.

Sega developers made Sonic Origins as a straight cash grab (in every Sonic 3 release after the genesis cartridge they never want to pay Michael Jackson's estate for the Sonic 3 music). Then the dlc code, Amy, & game gear games were most likely a pre-planned 1 year later style cash grab. Sega tried to straight up copy the whitehead developers of sonic mania Plus under the veil of fanmade, however doing it all as cash grab digital.

Despite Sega doing the bare minimum, when this game is on a nice sale and for just $20, the # of physical items, # of games, & extras are worthwhile to me

I honestly feel like this should be an introductory price point for this title

For someone who played the OG four on Sega (1, 2, 3 & K), does this feel like it's worth $20 to dive into at this point?

Taken from comingsoon.net. I was having trouble finding out exactly what GG games they are. Take note of the duplicates!

"The 12 Game Gear games are the biggest addition in Plus. These titles from Sega's large handheld are:

Tails' Sky Patrol
Tails Adventures
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble
Sonic Spinball
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Sonic Blast
Sonic Drift
Sonic Drift 2
Sonic Labryinth
Sonic Chaos

Plus also adds Amy Rose as a playable character in Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD, which were in the vanilla version of the bundle. Given those four original titles and the 12 Game Gear games, Sonic Origins Plus has around 16 total games, although there are two versions of the first two Sonic games."
