I have this exact machine, wonderful and plays games pretty darn well. Battlefield 3 & 4, Far Cry 5, Fallout 76, as long as you don't expect miracles the iGPU handles modern-ish games at very playable settings. Overall heavy for a 'tablet' but still ended up selling my Samsung Tab S8 because I stopped using it after buying the Flex 7.
10+ hour battery life, screen is bright even in direct sun (looking at you nits police), And yes, charges via USB C.
This is my second Lenovo 2-in-1, and not a single hinge has exploded to date
BTW, I purchased from this seller for my first Lenovo. Laptop appeared and was packaged as if new from a retail store. Other than a sticker that said "refurbished" on the bottom of the laptop it was indistinguishable from new.

How's the build quality? I notice it says the top is metal, it's hard to find something that doesn't feel like a toy in this price range.

To me it feels solid, but I am also not one of those people who abuses thing so I also do not demand everything be milspec rated to compensate for my carelessness (just saying our standards might be different). No flex on the screen when opening / closing, top and bottom do not feel hollow or spongy, hinges are tight enough not the be loose but loose enough not to feel like you are going to break the thing going from closed to tablet.
I have owned better and I have owned worse. I feel this falls into the middle where most other laptops should fall. Comparatively I have a Dell 5440 'business class' machine from my work and they seem built about the same. I've owned a couple of eMachines laptops (been awhile mind you!) that felt like toys on the other hand.

Thank you for the breakdown. Does it get really hot when gaming/under heavy use?
When you see a refurb item here on SlickDeals, does the original price refer to what a refurb would cost outside this sale, or is that the price for a new version of this refurb?

Not to me, I even use it most of the time on my lap (which normally makes laptops heat up faster than normal). Every time I have gamed though was on a flat desk.

How does this stand against Yoga that was posted the other day for $444?
I think the Yoga is a higher tier machine than the Flex (that is what Dr.Wajahat told me once) but if I am not mistaken that laptop was the same exact specs with a smaller hard drive. So is long as you didn't need the HD space the Yoga might be a better deal for theoretically higher build quality.
The Flex is last gen (12) and the Yoga is current gen (13). That's the only hardware difference, I believe. The Yoga was open box, the flex is refurb.
I got one of the yoga's and it was delivered yday. It has a 1 year warranty (started December 2023) from Lenovo on it. Looks like the Flex has a 2 year warranty from Allstate.

Yoga series is a higher end product, which has more premium build (all aluminium) of higher-quality than Flex. The Flex series is comparatively more affordable for casual use.
Specifically between the 2 machines, Yoga has:
newer 13th Gen Core i7
faster LPDDR5
speaker optimized with Dolby Atmos
larger 71Wh battery
0.17lbs lighter
1 more USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port
1 less USB-A 3.2 Gen 1
IR RGB Camera (for Windows Hello)
card reader only supports microSD (not full size)
(EDIT) SSD storage only supports M.2 2242 PCIe 4.0x4 NVMe (this Flex can take 2242/2280)

This is one of the best spec'd laptops under $500 I have seen on SD. Something for everyone except AAA gamers.
The only real question in my mind is build quality and long-term durability. While I understand why they're used, I'm not a big fan of polycarbonate / blends used to make the laptop chassis. I suppose that's where the user taking reasonable care of the laptop and the 2-year warranty serviced by Allstate come into play.
Yogas are most often, if not always, going to be the superior lineup when compared to the flex series. Generally, Yogas are supposed to be all metal while Flex are plasticky, hence the former has a better built quality. The Yoga's usually had better displays but that line has been blurred. The former generally have a bigger battery too.
This flex only has a 59Whr battery whereas the Yoga has a 71Whr battery. Displays are the same. LPDDR4 here vs LPDDR5 on the Yoga, although in real life there is absolutely no noticeable difference.
Yoga is lighter and is all metal while the flex is plastic at the bottom. 2x TB 4 on the Yoga vs 1x on the Flex.
That being said, as you ascend the flex lineup, the general features and build quality gets better and this Flex 7 is the top model of its family and more or less would be better in some cases if compared to the Yoga 5 or 6 models, not the Yoga 7 or 9.
